East China School District Bond Update
The East China School District has been working through the strategic planning process for the past two years. The work of the strategic planning committees has led to a recommendation to explore the option of a possible bond in May 2019. A Bond Steering Committee made up of parents, school employees and community members has been formed to explore this option. The charge of The Bond Steering Committee is to act as a good steward of the community’s resources; review, analyze and provide input into a plan for upgrading and creating operational efficiencies for East China School District's educational facilities and to support a culture of academic excellence, opportunities and success for all students in the District.
The steps for the Bond Steering Committee will be:
- To understand current district facilities, program, vision and modern learning.
- Examine whether our buildings hinder or help us meet our program vision and goals. Evaluate and determine best option to meet vision.
- Recommend an option to the Board of Education regarding future bond program initiative.
The strategic planning process is exciting as we explore new options and ideas for East China School District.

We Invite Our Senior Citizens to ECSD Athletic Events!
The East China School District embraces the community and recognizes the value of senior citizens attending events in our school district. To show appreciation for their ongoing support to the district and encourage attendance at East China athletic events, all individuals who have reached the age of 62 can attend any home athletic event free of charge. Individuals must show documentation (i.e. driver’s license) to honor this free admission. Please note that fundraisers, playoff games and tournaments are excluded.

Welcome Back from the entire Riverview East Family
The mission of Riverview East High School is to enable students to understand the world around them and talents within them so that they can become fulfilled individuals and active compassionate citizens.
We are looking forward to our continued adventure with this year’s students as we create opportunities for exploration through a variety of learning endeavors. REHS students will be continuing their efforts in developing River Rec Teen Zone, a youth-driven space where all youth can learn and grow together (www.riverrecteenzone.org for more info). Riverview East staff and students embrace the ideas of CREATIVITY, COLLABORATION, and COMMUNITY.
This year we are excited to introduce our new Visual Arts Teacher, Twila Wayt and our very own Therapy Dog, Rey. As our family continues to grow, so does our growing list of accomplishments and points of pride. Follow us on Facebook to see what it’s all about. If you have a project idea, resource or experience to share; contact Principal Jason Stier at jstier@ecsd.us or 810-676-1280.
Positivity Project (P2) comes to Eddy Elementary!
Eddy is excited to launch this new school year off with a wonderful program for the entire school! The Positivity Project, also known as P2, is a character education program that will be used in all classrooms and throughout our school. This program will help students consider the idea that OTHER PEOPLE MATTER, which also means that THEY MATTER! 24 characteristics will be supported throughout the year to aid students to create common understanding about THEIR STRENGTHS and OTHERS. Grade appropriate discussions about humility, bravery, self-control and as well as 21 other character traits will be explored. We can’t wait to see the impact this will have on student relationships and choices as the year progresses. See you soon, Eagles!
