White Construction Paper Needed
Our classroom is in need of white construction paper to use for our spring and end of the year art projects (our school supply room is out of stock for the rest of the year). If you are able to donate a pack of any size it would be greatly appreciated! Any brand is fine.
Room 22 News
Our school day starts at 8:25 am. Please make sure your child is at school on time (outside of appointments). We are starting to have around 5-6 students coming to class around 8:35/8:40. This is a distraction to the class as we need to stop our lesson to update attendance, unpack, and take their lunch choices - for each time another student comes in late, sometimes 5-6 times a lesson is stopped and interrupted. They are missing being able to have breakfast, and some days it means they are missing their P.E. and music time.
A reminder that we do NOT have a drinking fountain in the classroom, and we do NOT have air conditioning in the building. As the weather warms up we have lots of thirsty kids. Please remember to send in a labeled water bottle daily with your child. We have a bottle filling station by the office they are allowed to use.
Permission slips went home in Friday Folders for students attending our field trip AND a form for chaperone sign up. Both forms are due by April 22nd.
All approved volunteers will be able to join us for lunch and our nature walk starting at 11:30 am and will pay at Fernwood UPON ARRIVAL the $10 entrance fee. We have room for only 4 chaperones to join us for the first hour in the classroom due to limited space - names will be drawn randomly for these 4 slots. ALL chaperones will need to drive separately.
April reading homework was sent home with your child this week. A reminder that this does count towards their grades and needs to be turned in at the end of the month. Please make sure your child's name is on it next to "Name" at the top. We had about 5 homework papers turned in last time with no names and no way to track whose paper it was. :-(

A reminder that we need tennis shoes for P.E. Weather determines if the students are outside or inside, and we've had a lot of students miss out on participation due to having unsafe boots/sandals, not tennis shoes.
A reminder that our school day starts at 8:25 - arrivals after this time are considered a tardy. Students should be arriving to school prepared and on time for the day.
The office has extra car tags available for $5 if you need extras or replacements. Please contact them for more information or to purchase one.
Fundations
This week we continued learning about r-controlled vowels. We worked on -er, -ir, -ur.
We worked on the trick words: other, another, brother, mother.
Your child should be able to read the words and passages below. Have them practice and show off their growth in reading!
The button below provides an explanation of how to use these home sheets using the language and procedures we use in the classroom. Use the pictures for extra home support and activities you can work on to help your child strengthen their skills from what we've worked on in class.
Reading
This week we listened to and discussed books about the eclipse, Earth Day, and spring.
New vocabulary words: meteorologist, wispy, mammatus clouds
Math
Our focus this week reviewed learning about telling time to the hour and half hour. We practiced reading analog and digital clocks.
We were introduced to shapes and geometry by using and exploring tangrams.
Writing

Mrs. Lee Guest Speaker
Mrs. Lee came in to review good choices and not so good choices with the classroom this week. We are struggling with blurting in the classroom and not being able to keep hands to myself.
