Welcome To Week 28!
Dear Brahma Family,
Thank you to the dedicated Brahma parents whose volunteering contributes countless hours while their children are navigating high school. The success of our performing arts, athletics, and various other programs relies on the invaluable support provided by these parents, enriching the experiences of our students. As principal, I am fortunate to collaborate with several committed parent groups throughout the year.
At Diamond Bar High School, we have seven outstanding parent groups that we refer to as the Magnificent 7 or Mag 7. These groups, Brahma Boosters, Brahma Foundation, Chinese American Parent Association, Council of African American Parents, Hispanic Organization for Parents and Education, Korean American Parent Association, and South Asian Parent Association, operate both independently and collectively to support our school, and for that we are very thankful.
As a collective, the Mag 7 have supported events such as Rodeo Roundup, Back to School Night, a Staff Breakfast, Open House, and Eighth Grade Parent Night. On Friday, April 26 they will host a Staff Appreciation Luncheon to honor our dedicated staff members.
Creating opportunities for students at Diamond Bar High School requires the collaborative effort and support of our entire community. I encourage all parents to explore volunteering directly with the coach or advisor of the organizations their children are involved in and consider joining one or more of our Mag 7 parent groups. Remarkably, some parents manage to balance full-time work while actively participating in multiple parent organizations.
The photo from left to right, is our Brahma Booster president, Sheryl Phung, gifting biology teacher Diana Wei a basket of brand-new lab equipment donated to the science department by Xencor, Inc., a Pasadena-based biopharmaceutical company.
I look forward to the future and many more years of collaboration with committed parents dedicated to supporting the education of their children.
Wishing you strength, comfort, and well-being.
Sincerely,
David Hong
Principal

DBHS Robotics Team Wins ENGINEERING INSIPIRATION AWARD and cash prize
It was a very long weekend for Team Sprocket, our competitive robotoics team, as our poor little robot limped along the field for most of our matches due to technical difficulties and design failures. While we finished ranked 34 out of 50 teams, the FIRST Robotics Competition has a slogan of “More than Robots,” which is a value our team embraces.
Using the high-level writing and oratory skills they’ve developed in their classes, our business team worked hard to put together a stellar presentation for the Judging Committee, detailing our students hard work to promote STEAM education in our community. As a result, Team Sprocket won the Engineering Inspiration Award Celebrates for outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school, district and community through outreach and educational initiatives towards building future STEAM leaders. This is one of the highest awards a team can win in the world of high school robotics, securing the team an invitation to compete in the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston in April. Additionally, this is the only award that comes with a cash prize: $6000 to support participation in the championship.
Please join me in congratulating our students on this wonderful display of being Dynamic, Balanced, Honorable and Scholastic.
