John Glenn
First american to orbit earth, also the third American that went into space. He was born in Ohio, Cambridge, July 18th 1971. In college he trained as a Naval Aviator. On february 20th he flew the Friendship 7 mission. On 1965 he retired from the military and resigned from NASA so he could be good to run for election to public office. In 1978 Glenn got a Congressional Space Medal of Honor. In 1998 he became the oldest person to ever fly in space, at age 77. Glenn and Scott carpenter are the last members alive from Mercury Seven.
