Niton Central News
March 11 - 15
Principal's Message
Parent/ teacher interviews are coming up on March 21 and 22, forms have been sent home for parents to fill out and return to the school by Friday, March 15th. Report cards will go home on Friday and will also be available online for parents to view through PowerSchool. In the future, we will transition to paperless report cards, so this would be a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with where to access the report card. For information on how to create a Parent Portal Account, please email branbens@gypsd.ca or call the office.
Our Kindergarten and Jr. Kindergarten open house is on March 14 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Please spread the word and share online to families you may know who are thinking of sending their child to NCS!
I have included a link below to the results compiled from our Community Engagement on January 30. Niton Central School's Grade 9 Program: Community Conversation Report.
In preparation for wildfire season, I encourage all parents to ensure that the contact information we have at the school is up to date. This includes you phone number, address, email address, and emergency contacts in case someone else needs to pick up your child. Only parents/ guardians and those listed as emergency contacts would be able to pick up your child in the event of an evacuation so this is a good time to ensure all information is updated.
Pi Day is on March 15 this week! Students will get to throw pie at some of the staff! Students can either bring $2 or a food bank donation to be eligible to throw a pie. All money and food will be donated to the Food Bank. We also have an extra prize for the student that memorizes the most digits of pi. The pie throwing will begin at 2:30 for anyone interested in watching. We look forward to a great Pi Day!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Bailey Benson

New Hospital Open at NCS!
Have you heard about the new hospital and pharmacy at NCS? The wait times are incredibly short and the doctors, nurses, and pharmacists take amazing care of their patients! Would definitely recommend to anyone asking! Doctors have appointments setup for x-rays and eye care!
The students had a blast this week playing/ exploring the new hospital and learning about the different roles and responsibilities they could have! It has been a great opportunity for students to pull knowledge from the Wellness Curriculum including boundaries, healthy eating, safety, and healthy relationships.
Can you feel the Electricity?
Mrs. Setzer's grade 4/5 class has been learning about electricity and this week they practiced making different types of circuits and what objects worked as conductors of electricity. Students also have been learning about light, types of mirrors and mixing colors through light.

The grade 3 students in Ms. Boyles class have been learning about multiplication facts. They have used many different ways to practice their facts like magic square games and flash cards!
