Future 7th Grade Parents (Athletics):
If your current 6th grader is signed up for ATHLETICS next year, not P.E., we will have a parent meeting to preview what to expect. This is often an eye opener if this is your first experience with UIL sports. It would be helpful to have your son/daughter with you to help connect the dots since they've spent all year preparing!

Bring Your Own Device FAQs
As a reminder, beginning in August 2022, personal PC or MacBook laptops will no longer be able to connect to the internet while on a GCISD campus. This means that students will need to use a district-issued device while on campus.
The District has compiled a list of frequently asked questions regarding this change. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please direct them to technology@gcisd.net.
2022 Summer Food Service Program Information
For a meal near you call 211 or Text FOOD to 304-304
The Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to all children age 18 and younger. These meals provide essential nutrients for active growing kids. Children need good nutrition year-round so they can learn, grow and succeed in life. With nearly 2 million food insecure children living in Texas, these healthy meals are vital to nourishing young Texans during the summer vacation.
Summer food program meal sites help children succeed by providing the nourishment they need to return to school in the fall ready to thrive. To participate in the free meal program, all kids have to do is show up at a serving site.
Locations of summer sites for daily meal service: (a traditional breakfast and lunch will be served daily)
Timberline Elementary
3220 Timberline Dr.
June 1 - July 1
7:30 - 8:00 a.m.
10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The entire meal must be consumed at the serving site absolutely no “to go” breakfasts or lunches are available.
For additional information please call the GCISD Nutrition Services Department at 817-251-5618 or email child.nutrition@gcisd.net. For more information about the national Summer Food Service Program, visit SummerFood.org.
GCISD Swim and Dive Club Information
It is my desire to offer the middle school students the opportunity to gain new skills and possibly join our team when they start high school. The GCISD diving team is a great way for new high school students to get connected and plugged in. We have divers from both high schools. Flyer is linked here. Please let me know if you have any questions.
There will be a diving camp this summer from May 31- June 9 any students that might be interested in trying a new sport in high school. Flyer is linked here.
We will also have tryouts in August before school starts or upon request for an appointment. The information is on the aquatics website at gcisdaquatics.com. I am also more than happy to answer questions through email.
Here is the link for the diving video introducing the GCISD high school divers.

8th Grade Students and Parents:
Current 8th–11th grade students will be able to view their UNOFFICIAL schedules beginning Friday, May 13th at 4:00 p.m. through their Skyward account. Due to ongoing balancing of classes during summer, schedules are not considered OFFICIAL until the 1st day of school in the fall.
Some students may notice a change in the order of their classes. This is due to balancing of sections to ensure optimal class sizes and learning environments for all Mustangs. Should students wish to request a change to their schedule, please read the next section.
1st Schedule Adjustment Window: May 16-18
During this window, students can request changes to their schedule using the GHS Scheduling Adjustment Request form or the CHHS Scheduling Adjustment Request form. Please use the form for our zoned high school. (For students going to GHS, this form will also be posted on the GHS Counseling website and in students’ Canvas Classrooms.)
Changes to schedules are based on space and availability and may impact the order of a student’s schedule. Counselors will reach out if they have any questions regarding a student’s schedule.
2nd Schedule Adjustment Window: Aug 1-3 (for Schedule Errors only)
During this window, students can submit an online form if there is an error in their schedule (ex. already took and passed a course, hole in schedule, chosen for higher level activity, etc.).
After the 2nd Schedule Adjustment window, the following are the only permitted schedule changes:
Students will be allowed to level up to Advanced or AP courses within the first 10 days of the fall semester.
Students will be allowed to level down from Advanced or AP courses at the end of the 4-week and 9-week points and at the end of the first semester (pending space and availability).
See the following Course Selection Guide link for more details on Schedule Changes. https://sites.google.com/gcisd.net/2022-23/home

Bring Your Own Device Update for 2022-2023
As GCISD continues preparations for next school year, the Technology Services department has an important update to share regarding the use of personal devices on GCISD campuses. Beginning in August 2022, personal PC or MacBook laptops will no longer be able to connect to the internet while on a GCISD campus. This means that students will need to use a district-issued device while on campus.
District-issued devices are already required during standardized state testing, but will now be required at all times when using the internet on a GCISD campus. This change is being implemented to further enhance the District’s cybersecurity efforts. Additionally, GCISD will be able to better provide technical support if all students are utilizing district-issued technology.
Prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year, all GCISD students who do not already have a district-issued device will be given one at a designated time on their campus. Pre-K through 2nd-grade students will receive an iPad, 3rd-grade through 8th-grade students will receive a Chromebook, and 9th-grade through 12th-grade students will receive a Windows PC.
Although personal laptops and tablets will no longer be able to connect, personal cell phones will still be able to connect to the “GCISD BYOD Guest Wireless” Wi-Fi network. Any questions or concerns regarding this change can be directed to technology@gcisd.net.
Middle School Schedule Changes for 2022-2023
Middle School Schedule Changes for 2022-2023
As we continue to make plans for the 2022-2023 school year, GCISD would like to make middle school parents aware of an important schedule change that is coming next school year. All four GCISD middle schools will utilize a schedule that features all seven class periods, plus the student’s advisory period, each day.
Additionally, this schedule will change the start time of each school day to 8:10 a.m. and the end time of each day to 3:30 p.m. The start and end times for all GCISD elementary and high schools will not be changed for next year.
After a review of the current schedule and staffing, these changes will allow middle schools and the District to use staff time and resources more efficiently while continuing to meet the needs of our students.
An example schedule can be viewed here, but each campus will share their final class schedule with families when it is available. If you have any questions, please contact your campus.
Registration for the 2022-2023 school year begins May 2
Beginning Monday, registration for both new and returning families will be open in Skyward. As a reminder, the primary guardian will need to complete the registration in Skyward Family Access. If you have forgotten your login and/or password, please click on Forgot login or password on the login screen and that information will be sent to your email.
Please note that bus rider registration will not be included in Skyward registration this year. If students need to register as a bus rider, they can do so by visiting www.GCISD.net/transportation after completing registration in Skyward.
Construction Updates
Colleyville Middle School will be closed over the summer due to renovations taking place inside the school building.
Also, over the next few months, construction updates will be taking place on a few of our GCISD campuses. The track and turf at the following locations will be closed for school and public use:
The track and field at Mustang Panther Stadium will be closed beginning May 1
The track and field at Colleyville Heritage High will be closed beginning May 1
The track and field at Cross Timbers Middle will be closed beginning June 1
Please do not utilize the areas specified at these facilities during construction. Thank you!

Hey 6th grade parents!
Summer is almost here! Please remember your student will need the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines before starting 7th grade. These are often given during 11 and 12 year old well visits. Turning your student's immunization records into the nurse now gets this off your list of "to dos" for summer and makes for an easier registration process! You can view and print your child's vaccine records on file with GCISD by logging in to your Skyward Family Access account. Pick your student's name and then click "Health Info" on the bottom of the left column. Then click "display options" at the top. A box will pop up and click "Show Vaccinations". You can take this record to CVS, Walgreens, CareNow, or any facility or pharmacy who offers vaccinations should you not have a primary care doctor.
