Book Orders Are Due This Week!
Book orders were sent home last week. I hope you have picked out some great books to purchase. Book orders are due Thursday, September 15th. However, you can post-date your check to Scholastic for October 1st, as I will not send in the money until then. If you only order once this year, I hope you'll do it this time. We get extra bonus points this first month. So please consider placing an order this one time. If you need another book order, let me know. You can order online as well by using this site and code:
Pajama Day on Thursday! We earned 20 compliments so we get to have a PBS reward. The children chose pajama day!
Reading
This week we looked at the letters Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, and Ss with our reading series. We read the book Platypus Lost and talked about sequencing our story. What happens first, next, and last.
This week we will read Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten.
Next week we will look at letters Tt-Zz and continue to learn the sight words: the, little.
Math
During math meeting, we are practicing how to count to 20 daily. Many students cannot count past 12, missing 13 or 14 or even 15. So we take our time, practicing each day. We are also learning some ways to help us keep track of what we have counted when counting objects. Strategies like moving objects in a line or a row when counting helps us keep track of what we have counted and makes it easier to recount objects to check.
Homework & Rainbow Words
Thank you for completing homework and turning it in on Friday. Folders will go home each Friday and should be returned the Following Friday (unless there is no school on Friday and I'll let you know when they are due that week). There are directions on the back of the folder.
Rainbow Words and Sight Word Wallets are also inside. Thank you for cutting these up and placing them in your sight word wallet. Once your child has mastered these 17 words, place them on the "Ready to Read To Mrs. Erlewine" side and I will test them, put their name on the Rainbow Wall, and send home the next color! Work as slow or as fast as you please! The more words they know, the better readers they will be!
Can Your Child Read This?
