PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Franklin Families,
Today we celebrated our Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color at our BIPOC Cultural Assembly. The event showcased presentations and performances from our Franklin BIPOC student affinity clubs. We are so proud of them! Below are a couple of photos from the assembly.
The end of the 3rd quarter is Thursday, April 4th. Now is a great time to check-in with students on course grades and assignments. Teachers will be working on grading and planning on Friday, April 5th. There is no school for students that day. Students, be sure to check-in with your teachers and go to tutorial for extra help.
Class of 2024! When we return from spring break there will be a mandatory senior meeting on Wednesday, April 3rd during tutorial in the auditorium. We will be discussing graduation, the 60-day rule, prom attendance requirements, and Jostens will be here to distribute cap and gowns. I am so excited for you!
We wish you all a wonderful Spring Break and see you on April Fools Day.
Go Lightning!

NEW: Arts Alive
Arts Alive is a collaborative annual showcase, featuring performances from Franklin's dance, choir, band, and theater departments. Performances are Friday, April 19th/Saturday, April 20th/Friday, April 26th/Saturday, April 27th, all at 7:00pm. On Friday, April 26th we will be welcoming the dance programs from Lane and Kellogg Middle Schools for a special performance, and on Saturday, April 27th we will be honoring the Dance at Franklin senior class. Tickets are on sale now, and we expect every show to sell out or come close to selling out (especially April 26th and 27th).
As you can probably imagine, it takes a lot of people behind the scenes to put on such a big show and we are always looking for front-of-house help. Anyone who volunteers to work during an Arts Alive performance will receive a FREE ticket to another performance of your choice. All volunteer jobs are easy and fun, and training will be provided. Anyone from the community is welcome to take advantage of this opportunity.

PTSA NEWS
LAST CHANCE: PTSA Plant Sale
Less than a week until pre-orders for the Annual Plant Sale are closed!
Please consider donating to support FHS teachers. The hanging baskets are our best seller and a fantastic gift for Mother's Day!
The annual plant sale is one of the PTSA's biggest fundraisers, raising crucial funds to support FHS students and staff all year long. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, March 27th and will be picked up outside of school on Wednesday, May 8th. This is perfect timing for Mother's Day gifts and all your spring gardening needs. On the website, you will have the opportunity to donate additional dollars so the PTSA can purchase a plant for every staff member as part of their Staff Appreciation Week festivities.
Please share this link with local family, friends, and neighbors! Every little bit that the PTSA raises will directly help every member of our Franklin community.
Educator Spotlight Selections
The PTSA would love to congratulate and thank Rob Carron and Mary Hanel, who were both selected for the ongoing Educator Spotlight series at last week's general meeting.
Rob was just recognized by PPS for FORTY-FIVE YEARS of service (!!) and he is a beloved fixture at Franklin. As our Head Custodian, Rob and his team work tirelessly to keep the school clean and safe, and is one of the few staff members who regularly interacts with every single person in the building. He is incredibly kind and helpful, going out of his way to assist students, colleagues, and volunteers.
Mary has been committed to serving students in PPS for over 20 years, many of those at Franklin. She first served as a Social Worker for students who were in the Teen Parent program and now works with students with social and emotional needs. She brings her heart to her work, is a strong advocate and goes above and beyond to support all students in FHS community even though she is assigned to a class of 13. Her colleagues describe her as incredibly patient, kind, dedicated, flexible and a great resource for students and staff. According to a para-educator who regularly work in Mary's classroom, "she is gracefully performing an impossible job. She is creative and harnesses patience with the most challenging of our student population."
On behalf of the entire Franklin community, the PTSA honors these two staff members, and thanks them for their unbelievable dedication to their work. Each of these educators received a gift card as a small token of our immense gratitude. If you would like to nominate an educator who has made an impact on you or your student, we are accepting nominations all year.
