Plessy vs Ferguson case
Please was an African American who tested the Jim Crow laws. He took a seat on a "whites only" train car. When Plessy was asked to move, he refused and was arrested under the "Jim Crow car act of 1890". Ferguson was a judge for Plessy and found him guilty. He could either serve 20 days in prison or pay a fine of 25$. Plessy never agreed with this and believed he was being discriminated against. Ferguson ended the case with Plessy jailed.
Where, when, and why it occurred.
Plessy bought his train ticket in 1892 from New Orleans to Covington Louisiana. Plessy staged the incident to test the constitutionality of the 1890 law.
