Principal Message
Elger Bay Families,

Firstly, a gentle reminder: the deadline for submitting the Bike for Books reading challenge form is tomorrow, March 4th, for students chance to win a brand new bike!
Additionally, mark your calendars for our upcoming PTA meeting on Monday, March 11th, at 4:00 PM. Your active participation is invaluable to us as we work together to enrich the educational experience for our students.
Don't miss out on the excitement of Math Night on Thursday, March 14th, from 5:30-7:00. It will be an evening filled with fun activities for the whole family.
Furthermore, the week of March 11th through 15th is Classified Staff Appreciation Week. It's a wonderful opportunity to express our gratitude to the dedicated members of our staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support our school community. Let's make sure they feel truly appreciated for all they do!
Looking ahead, please note that we have early release days scheduled for March 27th through 29th for spring conferences. These conferences are crucial for us to discuss your child's progress and growth, so please make sure to mark your calendars accordingly.
Last but not least, our music programs are scheduled for Wednesday, March 27th. The performances will be divided by grade levels: K-2 at 10:00 AM and 3rd-5th at 11:00 AM. Join us as we celebrate the talent and hard work of our young musicians!

Spring Reading Challenge
Dear Families,
Remind students to bring back the completed sheet with your PARENT SIGNATURE to be eligible for the drawing by Monday, March 4th. We can't wait to see our young readers embark on this literary journey and potentially ride away with a brand new bike!
This is a fantastic opportunity for your child to dive into the world of books and have a chance to win a brand new BIKE, thanks to the generous donation from the Masons!
To participate, your child will need to complete five activities from the list provided each week. A detailed information sheet was sent home, outlining the activities and providing more details about the challenge.
Take our annual Community Survey
How are we doing?
For the second year in a row, the school district is asking the community to take a 10 minute survey to help us plan for the future.
Last year, more than 1,300 community members took the time to share their thoughts. The feedback helped us adapt our processes, procedures, and systems — such as how we communicate with families and where best to prioritize investments. This is all in an effort to ensure our priorities are aligned with those of the community.
Please share the link to as many people as possible! We don't want to miss anyone because all the input will help shape the future of the school district for years to come.
See SHS's family friendly spring musical!
The Stanwood High spring musical — Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" — opens this week!
The play will be presented at 7 p.m. on March 8, 9, 15, and 16. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students — can be purchased at the box office or online via GoFan. Don't miss this play for the whole family.
This is your opportunity to witness our vibrant student talent as they bring “Cinderella” to life with flair and finesse.
March menus available
Families can find breakfast and lunch menus for March on our Food Services webpage by expanding the "Monthly Menus" tab.
Meanwhile, we continue to encourage families to submit a Free and Reduced Meal application online via Skyward Family Access by clicking the Food Service tab and then Applications.
Transitional Kindergarten applications now open
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) has been available in Stanwood-Camano School district since the 2022-23 school year and is aimed at helping children who haven’t accessed preschool to prepare for kindergarten.
TK applications are now being accepted for 2024-25 school year.
There are classrooms available at Cedarhome Elementary, Twin City Elementary, and Utsalady Elementary — but all Stanwood-Camano students eligible, regardless of location of residence.
TK is a free, full-day early entrance kindergarten program for children who will be 4 years old as of September 1 at the beginning of that school year.
Visit our Transitional Kindergarten webpage to learn more and to apply.
We're also accepting students for our preschool programs
The school district is now accepting students for our inclusive preschool programs at Stanwood Elementary or Utsalady Elementary for next school year.
To be considered, students must be 4 years old by the start of the 2024-25 school year. Contact Janette Marx at jmarx@stanwood.wednet.edu or 360-629-1250 for further information.
In addition, visit www.StanCamPreschools.com — created by the Community Resource Center of Stanwood-Camano — to find information about all the childcare and preschool programs within the Stanwood-Camano School District.
Help us fight fentanyl
Please join us for an important community safety forum.
Fentanyl Awareness Night will teach students, families, and the community what you need to know about this danger that’s now laced into most street drugs.
This synthetic opioid is being pressed into fake pills — and it’s 50x more potent than heroin. A lethal dose can be only 2 milligrams.
Local criminals are marketing these pills to our children.
Join us at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at Stanwood High School to hear from local, state, and federal experts about how to protect yourself and your family. This free community forum is open to everyone.
