REMINDER: NEXT FRIDAY, MARCH 11, 2022, IS AN EARLY DISMISSAL DAY! LINCOLN DISMISSES AT 11:15am.
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Since March came in like a lamb, it’s hard to stop thinking about spring break, the sunshine, the beaches, and NO school; but, we still have lots going on at Lincoln in the next few weeks. Wrestling is wrapping up their season and volleyball has had a great season and is looking forward challenging staff after school. Track and field is starting up and offers a great opportunity to try something new – especially for 6th graders since track is a non-cut sport! Ms. Thomas is introducing our spring Cabaret and practices are soon underway! Chorus, band, and orchestra have set their spring elementary visits on the calendar . . . and that’s just some of the fun stuff! The quarter ends on March 18 and we expect students to stay focused, work hard and do their best in the weeks ahead. IAR and ISA testing begins next week as well. So there is still plenty of hard work to be done and good grades to achieve before our spring break arrives!
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our upcoming IAR and ISA testing schedule. IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness: Grades 6,7,8) and ISA (Illinois Science Assessment: Grade 8 only) testing schedule begins next week. Although only one indicator of student performance, standardized testing is, and will continue to be, an important piece of your child's education. Families can help make standardized testing a positive experience for their child by helping them to be prepared for testing days. We encourage students to:
- Try to get plenty of rest.
- Try to eat a healthy breakfast.
- Bring your CHARGED Chromebook to school.
- Bring headphones.
- Bring an independent reading book.
- Bring paper and pencils.
We ask that, if at all possible, students are present during IAR and ISA testing. We appreciate your cooperation with scheduling routine appointments outside of the testing window. See below for Lincoln's testing schedule. Thank you for your support and confidence as Spring is just around the corner and we will soon begin the 4th quarter of our school year!

ATTENTION 8th GRADE PARENTS: AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MR. STEEN, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
Dear Eighth Grade Parents/Guardians,
Lincoln Middle School will be participating in the Illinois Youth Survey on April 1, 2022.
WHAT IS THE ILLINOIS YOUTH SURVEY?
The purpose of the Illinois Yourth Survey is to better understand youth attitudes and behaviors that can impact student problems and academic success. It will ask about topics including nutrition, physical activity, bullying, tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use. Students will be asked to complete a survey (with no names or identification numbers) that will be confidentially administered during one class period. The survey is completely voluntary and privacy will be strictly protected.
DO I HAVE TO DO ANYTHING TO ALLOW MY CHILD TO PARTICIPATE?
The opt-out form below will allow you to exclude your child from participation in the survey and the form only needs to be returned if you do not want your child to participate. Please email the form to Randy Steen (rsteen@d57.org) or turn the form into the front office. An opt-out form must be submitted by Monday, March 28, 2022.
WHAT IS THE SURVEY DATA USED FOR?
The Illinois Youth Survey will provide our school with a local report of the combined student results which will help to determine which programs may be needed to keep students safe and healthy.
For more information, please visit the Illinois Youth Survey website at https://iys.cprd.illinois.edu/

Class of 2022 - Reminder
Please be sure to respond to the request to complete the graduation form:
Diplomas and Gowns - Please complete and submit this form by Friday, March 4 to provide your child’s formal name to be printed on the diploma and in the graduation program. This is also the name that will be read aloud at the graduation ceremony. Also please provide your child’s height so that we may order the gown. We do not order graduation caps. If this form is not completed, we will use the name registered in the PowerSchool database and order an average sized gown for your child.

UPDATED SPECTATOR GUIDELINES FOR LINCOLN ATHLETIC EVENTS REGARDING MASKING
As parents are aware, effective February 7, 2022, Mount Prospect School District 57 is "mask recommended" and by court order can not require our students, staff, or any individuals inside our facility to wear masks. Though District 57 is bound by the court order, other districts that our athletic teams or our spectators visit while at "away games" may not be. Therefore, if the facility Lincoln visits requires masks wearing, we must comply with mask wearing in order to attend.
