Greetings Cottonwood Families
Hello Cottonwood Family
Hello Cottonwood Family
Spring into Reading: April showers bring May flowers, but they also bring more daylight hours. Encourage your child to pick up a book and embark on exciting literary adventures. Our school library is brimming with tales waiting to be explored and is open after school for families to enjoy!
The month of March was quite busy. In March we celebrated Read Across America which culminated in Reading Night. We had a mix of performances from our scholars and staff. They were both amazing! Next year we will be sure to shorten the time so all of our families will be able to enjoy it. We also took a tour of Hamilton High School with our 8th graders. It has some amazing Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework that our scholars will be able to take and it is a wonderful place to spend your High School career.
This month our 4th graders are going to the Ramona Pageant, a wonderful play that has been a tradition for almost 100 years!
State testing will be starting for our 3rd through 8th graders on Monday, April 15, and last through Friday, May 03.
April 15th - 19th: ELA
April 22nd - 27th: Math
April 29th - May 3rd: CAST State Science Test/ (5th and 8th)
Please encourage your students to eat before testing and get proper sleep the night before testing. Our Scholars are ready to ROCK state testing!
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education journey. Together, we'll make this April a month to remember! Hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break and Easter Weekend.
Warm Regards,
Mr. Trudel

Character Trait
For the month of April our school will emphasize the character trait of "Attentiveness".
Attentiveness can be defined as " Concentrating on the person or task before me.
The characteristics of Attentiveness are:
I will look at people when they are listening to me.
I will ask questions if I don't understand.
I will sit or stand up straight.
I will not draw attention to myself.
I will not be distracted by others.
We would love to see our students in action demonstrating the character trait of Atten! Please e-mail any pictures of your children to Mrs. Niaves (aniaves@hemetusd.org) demonstrating Attentiveness in school, around the house or the community so that we can showcase their efforts!
