A Note From Our Conselor
HRE Parents and Guardians,
As you know HSE schools has received a generous award from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. designed to enhance academic, college, career and social and emotional needs of K-12 students. The Lilly Endowment’s aim is to significantly increase the number of students who are emotionally healthy, realize academic success, and are prepared to compete and prosper in a global society.
As part of this effort, all HSE schools are working with the American Student Achievement Institute and specifically Guiding All Kids model. This accreditation process provides all HSE schools what is considered the "Gold Star Standard" for counseling in the state of Indiana and also is among the highest respected in the United States. The HRE Guiding ALL Kids Council works monthly around the positive impacts and outcomes that we all want for our Rockets.
As we moved forward, this process asked us to survey HRE students regarding their views of school counseling, access to supports, and connections to college and career readiness. Student voice is essential as we move forward in identifying strengths and opportunities in our current programs. This week all HRE kids were asked to participate in an anonymous survey related to college and career readiness.

To offset our costs (water, healthy snacks, shirts) we are looking for some sponsors. Your company name will be featured on our newly designed shirts. $50 and $100 partnerships are welcome. If you or a wealthy friend/family member can help, you can contact Ms. Chandler at kchandler@hse.k12.in.us or Miss Pall at japall@hse.k12.in.us. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

Be Prepared for School Closings and Weather Delays This Winter
The doors to the school will be locked so please do not drop off your children and drive away!! Students will be admitted into the building at 10:45 AM. School will begin at 10:55 AM. No lunch visitors will be allowed on delay days due to an altered schedule.
In cases of extreme weather conditions, the Superintendent of HSE Schools will call a weather day and close all HSE schools. Again, parents will be notified via Skylert and closings will be announced on social media and by local TV stations.
Remember that HSE bus service will run on all school days. We encourage you to have your child ride the provided bus transportation to school so as not to be late -- tardiness due to weather is not excused. If your child attends the Y before/after care, the Y will be open as usual on delay days but will be closed on cancellation days.
Outdoor Recess Happens Year-Round! Remember - please dress your child for the weather
Volunteers & Lunch Visitors Reminder
Per HSE Policy, visitors must have their SafeVisitor Badge scanned to check-in to the building. Please download the SafeVisitor App (it is available in Google Play or via the app store on the iPhone) or have your badge available when you come into the school. Looking up names can lead to the wrong person being signed in.
Upon leaving, please give your printed badge to the office staff for quick check-out.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Vicki Foutty at 317-594-4100.
