Education, Training and other qualifications.
To become a Marriage and Family Therapist you will need a master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related mental health field. A bachelor’s degree in most fields is acceptable to enter a master’s-level program. Also a license is needed to become a (MFT). Students gain experience in providing family therapy, group therapy, psychotherapy and other therapeutic interventions, under the supervision of a licensed counselor. Some qualities to become a (MFT) includes being a great listener, compassionate, organized and also great speaking skills.
