IKM-Manning Enters Superintendent Sharing Agreement with Tri-Center
On February 12 , the IKM-Manning Board of Education approved to enter into an operational sharing agreement with Tri-Center for a superintendent starting in the 2024-25 school year. Dr. Angela Huseman has been the superintendent at Tri-Center since 2016 and previous to that, served as their high school principal for seventeen years. Dr. Huseman is excited to take on the new challenge and feels her staff at Tri-Center is established enough that she can split her time between the districts. We will have more about Dr. Huseman after she starts her position, pending contract approval, on July 1.
Certified Enrollment Numbers at IKM-Manning
Knowing exactly how many students are educated in a school can be confusing. When you look at the certified enrollment reports on the Iowa Department of Education website, there are many numbers. This article is a basic view of how certified enrollment works and what exactly the numbers are for IKM-Manning for this current school year
The certified enrollment of a school is verified on October 1 of each school year for the purpose of providing per student funding to the district for the following school year. In the 23-24 school year, $7,635 is given to the district for each student verified in that count. Students that come after that date do not receive that money and it stays in their verified district for the remainder of the year.
Here are some updated numbers for our district as of February 26:
712 students are being educated in preschool-12th grade
Our largest grade is Kindergarten with 68 students, including 11 Transitional Kindergarten students
Our smallest grades are 5th and 10th grade with 42 students
The average grade size is 50.9
There are 68 more male than female students in the district
The last eight years of data shows an average of 707.3 students being educated in our district with the low being 680 students (2016-2017) and the high being 731 students in the 2021-2022 school year
The Irwin building serves 229 students, and 483 students are educated in Manning
