Everything You Need to Know to Survive Fourth Grade!
Setting the Table for Expectations
We launched our first word study unit yesterday, and it will be due and quizzed on Friday the 15th. All word study units are 2-week units. We are wrapping up our first math unit this week and will have a quiz tomorrow. Finally, we began studying Virginia geography today to lay the foundation for our entire social studies curriculum.
You Mean We Have Homework?!
You can expect your child to have homework every night. I will never exceed the 40 minutes that ACPS says your child may be assigned and I hopefully will never come close. The only exception would be if your child has fallen behind with their work. We have talked about doing our work on a daily basis, as if classwork is not completed, it is to be finished as homework.
Back to School Night Tuesday, September 12, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
There are 2 sessions for parents. We suggest children do not attend this event. 1st session is 6:00-6:40 pm and the 2nd session is 6:50-7:30 pm. Teachers will review with parents the homework policy, curriculum and teacher expectations from the parents and students. Our Gifted Resource teachers, Hope Hamlin and Analisa Herring will have resources available and answer questions in the libray from 5:30 to 6:00 pm.
