DAVIES NEWS
SAVE THE DATE
ALL Junior students will take the ACT on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 8:00 AM.
Students need to report at 7:45 AM. Late arrivals will not be allowed to take the test.
Please document this important date on your calendars if you have a junior student. Juniors were given information during their English class about what to expect on the day of the test, including the top reasons students are dismissed from the test. To review the information given to your student, consult this link. If you’d like more information on what taking the ACT will look like beyond what was provided, consult this additional link.
JUNIORS: This test is FREE to all juniors. Registration for the test is taken care of by Davies High School. The ACT doubles as state testing, making it required for ALL juniors to take.
We understand that some students may be considering taking the ACT before the state-mandated date on March 26. The decision to do so is entirely up to the individual student and their family! However, fees and registration are the family's responsibility if their student takes the test before March 26 (*See your counselor if you feel you require a fee waiver). Additionally, if you’re wondering whether you can retake the ACT after the state-mandated test, the answer is YES, although it is not mandatory. The ACT is offered on several national test dates at various locations in Fargo. If students do choose to test on a national test date, all registration activities are done on the website HERE.
Davies High School Code = 350-569
ASVAB
The ASVAB will be administered at Davies on Tuesday March 5, 2024, at 9:00 AM for 11th and 12th graders who missed the opportunity to test with their grade level or who want to retake it. If students want to take the ASVAB to help them qualify for the North Dakota Scholarship, they will need to score at least a 50 or greater. To register for the ASVAB, please see the email that was sent from Davies Counseling on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS
Seniors should check out the Davies High School Counseling Center website for scholarship opportunities. This site is updated often but is by no means all-inclusive. Local scholarships that are listed are sent to Davies by the donors/sponsors. Students should also visit their college’s scholarship and financial aid websites for additional opportunities.
Research Science Institute Acceptance
Cady Wang was accepted into the Research Science Institute; it is the most prestigious research program for high schoolers with an acceptance rate of less than 3%. This is the first time in history that a student from North Dakota has been accepted.
Each summer, 100 of the world's most accomplished high school students gather at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the Research Science Institute (RSI). RSI is the first cost-free to students, summer science & engineering program to combine on-campus course work in scientific theory with off-campus work in science and technology research.
Participants experience the entire research cycle from start to finish. They read the most current literature in their field, execute a detailed research plan, and deliver conference-style oral and written reports on their findings.
RSI scholars first participate in a week of intensive STEM classes with accomplished professors. The heart of RSI is the five week research internship where students conduct individual projects under the tutelage of mentors who are experienced scientists and researchers. During the final week of RSI, students prepare written and oral presentations on their research projects.

- All students will need to have their IDs and prom tickets for admission on Prom night.
- All students will be breathalyzed before being admitted into Grand March/Prom.

Parenting and being part of a family are very important to the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people. You may not realize it, but you are already supporting your children’s mental health and well-being just by:
- Considering family counseling that treats all members as partners in the treatment plan
- Ask for advice on how to respond to your child and handle difficult behavior
- Enroll in parent training programs
- Explore stress management techniques to help you respond calmly
- Seek ways to relax and have fun with your child

REPEATED INFORMATION
2024 AP EXAM Registration
*This registration is for semester 2 only classes or if you forgot to register for your semester one/full-year class exam(s) and want to register with a $40 late fee per exam.
Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Ronald N Davies High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they have taken. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.
For the 2024 AP exams, students at Ronald N Davies High School will be registering online. Online Exam registration will begin on Mon, February 5, 2024 at 7:00 AM and end on Wed, March 6, 2024 at 11:59 PM. The AP exam registration process is two steps, but both can be completed in one sitting when the student and parent/guardian do this together. Even if you do not plan to take the AP exam, you need to complete both steps to access the College Board’s AP resources. Both steps must be completed in order to have AP exams ordered:
Step 1: Begin the process by registering at www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/350569. Here you will indicate both the AP courses you are taking this year and the exams you wish to take. You will receive your join codes and directions to complete the second required step. Any exam fees will be paid online so be sure to have a debit card or credit card available before beginning registration. Paying online is a great way to make sure that payment has been made while avoiding mailing payment.
Step 2: Use the join codes provided at the completion of step one to enroll the student's AP courses and exams in the College Board's system.
This year each AP exam costs $101.00 (processing fee included). Ronald N Davies High School desires that every student be able to take their AP exams. Students requiring financial assistance should see attached exam fee guidance guide. If you have questions please contact Mrs. Amanda Brown, browna@fargo.k12.nd.us.
