HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 4 Week 5 November 15 2019
FROM MARK
Dear Parents and Guardians
What a privilege it was to welcome such a huge contingent of grandparents, stand-in grandparents and visitors from Regis next door ready to defy the heat! We were so pleased that you were able to take the time to visit Holy Rosary and get a real sense of life here. You play an important role in the lives of so many and today has been a lovely opportunity to celebrate just that.
Thank you, thank you.
The School Board and P&F Annual meeting is on Tuesday, 5pm to 6pm, in the staff room, followed by some hospitality. We would really like to see you there, to listen to reports on the work done by so many volunteers over the year, to express our appreciation, and to have a drink and catch up afterwards. Please give it some thought. A copy of the Agenda can be found below.
Have a great weekend

Principal
LABELLING IDEA https://www.stuckonyou.com.au/clothing-name-stamp-pack
Some parents may already be aware of this product. According to one school community, it simplifies the labelling of uniforms – and more – for families, so I thought I would share the link with you. A popular option is to have a stamp just with the family’s surname and phone number in order that it can be used with all children in the family.

DUTY OF CARE #3
Before school supervision starts at 8.15am. Thank you for your support. The number of children coming earlier than 8.15 has reduced significantly.
The Dominican Playground (the one with the lovely new sail!) closes at 3.30pm as it is then licenced to After School Care. It is lovely to see how many families use that time from after school until 3.30pm to play there. But this can only happen if the following is adhered to. Please note that:
- The playground doesn’t include the Veritas Garden, Oval, Courts etc. It only relates to the grassed area and play equipment in the sandpit.
- parents and guardians must exercise line of sight supervision for all children using the playground at that time - otherwise they may not use the area. Keep it safe!
- Please vacate the playground by 3.30pm
- At 3.50 last Friday afternoon, a parent came to the office to report that a window had been broken. That would not have happened if the playground had been vacated by 3.30pm
- If you supervise your children after school hours as described and depart at 3.30pm then we can all enjoy the gifts of play and friendship of our school community.
- It will be a sad day if the playground has to be closed at the 3.05 siren because people do not honour the conditions of use.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hampers
Christmas for many of us is a time of happiness and celebration as we gather with our family and friends sharing meals, laughing and chatting as we open presents, however, for people experiencing poverty and disadvantage Christmas can be a challenging time. The Vinnies
Christmas Appeal encourages the community to rethink their priorities at Christmas time by helping to give joy and hope to those who need it most.
We are seeking your support through the donation of non-perishable food items. This will enable us to provide families and individuals who turn to St Vincent de Paul over this period with Christmas hampers so they too can share in the joy of Christmas.
Suggest items:
- Christmas cakes/puddings/cookies/mince pies
- Chocolates/candies/nuts/ snacks/ nibbles
- Christmas stockings for children
- Soft drinks/juices
- Long life milk
- Tinned ham/fish/fruit/vegetables
- Jams/honey/pickles
- Bon Bons/crackers
- Baby products
All items will be collected in each classroom and donated to St Vincent de Paul at our final whole school mass on Friday, 13th December.

Primary School Triathlon Championships
On Friday November 8th Holy Rosary sent 12 teams to the Primary School Triathlon Championship at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre in Armadale.
In this event students work as part of a team to complete a 200m swim, 6km bike ride and 2km run. The aim of this event is to participate as part of a team and try your hardest while having fun. All out, our teams competed finished their events and had a blast doing it. St Marks Anglican College won the event on the day.
I would like to congratulate our highest placing team James Barnard, Thomas Butson and Koby Ashford on finishing 3rd in B Division. That was a fantastic effort. I would also like to congratulate all our teams for trying their hardest and being fantastic ambassadors for our school on the day. We were proud of all of you.
Overall Holy Rosary finished 5th out of 19 schools competing on the day which is a fabulous overall effort.
