Florida Atlantic University's Department of Ocean & Mechanical Engineering Open House
On April 28th, at 5:30 p.m. ET, Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Ocean and Mechanical Engineering will host a virtual open house. The open house will be an opportunity for prospective students and their families to learn about FAU’s Ocean Engineering program, tour our research laboratories, meet current students, and learn about career opportunities for ocean engineers. Please see the link below for more information and for the RSVP form.

More on SeaTech and Ocean Engineering:
SeaTech is FAU’s flag ship site for advanced engineering research and technology development aimed at solving problems in the ocean. Ocean Engineering, the research concentration at SeaTech, is a multidisciplinary field aimed at solving engineering problems associated with working in the ocean environment and wisely exploring and harnessing the ocean's resources.
Ocean engineers design, build, operate, and maintain ships, offshore structures and a variety of ocean technologies including ships, submarines, oil rigs, underwater robots, and acoustic sonar.
Ocean engineers study the oceans to determine the effects of waves, currents, and the saltwater environment on ships and other marine vehicles and structures and develop methods and materials to withstand wave forces and protect against corrosion. Ocean engineers are also involved in development and use of manned and unmanned marine vehicles for deep-sea exploration and resource recovery. An ocean engineer, Dr. Robert Ballard, located the wreckage of the Titanic.
FAU’s ocean engineering program, initiated in 1965 as the nation’s first such undergraduate program, is one of the oldest in the nation. FAU offers a four-year BS degree program, as well as BS/MS, MS, and PhD degree programs, in Ocean Engineering. Students may visit www.ome.fau.edu to learn more about our programs.
