Summer Band Camps
It's that time of the year when many of you are already making plans for the summer! Recently, we have received several inquiries asking for suggestions of music camps for students to attend. Attached is a list of Texas-area summer music camps that come highly recommended by the LHHS, FMMS, and LHMS directors and private lesson staff.
Many of these camps have ability-based ensembles, chamber music opportunities, elective options, and performances with a collegiate-level conductor at the end of the week! Attending a summer music camp is a great way to continue musical development throughout the summer and come back stronger at the beginning of the year!
Generally speaking, there are two types of summer music camps - residential and commuter camps. Residential camps are overnight camps where students stay in a dormitory for the duration of the camp, and commuter camps are local camps that you drive to each day. Residential camps typically have higher tuition costs than commuter camps because of the housing and meal costs associated with staying overnight. For both types of camps, in almost all cases, there are scholarships and financial assistance available for students that need it. Please see each website for details!
We are fortunate that there are some really great camps available here in our backyard! Click here to view the recommended list of summer music camps. Please talk to or email your director if you have any questions regarding participating in a summer band camp.
