The Spanish-American War was a conflict between Spain and the United States in 1898.
Definition
The Spanish American War was a result of American intervention in the Cuban War of Independence. After the mysterious sinking of the American battleship Maine, the democratic pushed the president at that time, William McKinley, to declare war on Spain. The war lasted approximately 10 weeks, and ended with the Treaty of Paris, which allowed temporary American control of Cuba.
