SC READY TESTING PARENT LETTER
ELECTRONIC DEVICES during TESTING
As we approach state testing during the month of May, it is important for us all to remember that electronic devices are not allowed in the testing room on test days. This includes cell phones, air pods, unapproved headphones, and watches. During state testing days, we encourage students to leave these devices at home. For students that do bring these items, we will ask that they be placed in bookbags. All bookbags will be placed outside of the testing room. Each hallway is monitored continuously by staff members. Thank you for your understanding as we work to create a testing environment that provides each student with the conditions needed for them to be successful!
ATHLETIC PHYSICAL NIGHT
The annual athletic physical night has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 10 at 5:30pm in the CHS Gym. ALL ATHLETES must have a new physical (dated after April 1, 2023) on file before beginning any summer weights/conditioning/camps/etc. No physical for the 22-23 school year will be good after May 27th. NO EXCEPTIONS!! The cost is $25 cash or check made out to CHS.

TDAP VACCINATION for CURRENT 6th GRADERS
It is time for all 6th grade families to start thinking about the TDAP vaccination. This vaccine is required by the state of South Carolina for all students entering the 7th grade. Please do not wait until the last minute to make an appointment. Students who do not have documentation of TDAP on file may not be allowed to attend school until they do so. If you have questions, please contact our school nurse, Emily Barnes, at emilybarnes@lcsd56g.com or (864) 938-1678.

RISING 6th GRADE BRIDGE NIGHT
On Thursday, May 18 at 6:00pm, we will be inviting our rising 6th grade students (current 5th graders) and their parents to come get to know what middle school is all about. 6th grade Bridge night is an opportunity for rising 6th grade students and their parents to become more familiar with Clinton Middle School. We hope to answer any questions and alleviate some of the anxiety of coming to a new school and beginning middle school. Students will meet staff, eat in the cafeteria, and tour the building. We will also take time to tell parents and students about Clinton Middle School and answer any questions they may have.
RISING 9th GRADE NIGHT at CHS
Clinton High School will be holding a 9th grade night on Tuesday, May 23 from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. This is not a "drop in" event. The principal will begin a presentation at 6:00pm and then students and parents will be able to tour the school. Yearbook pictures will also be taken on that night! We hope to see you there!
SUPER SOCIAL STUDIES
Last week, students in Ms. Allen and Mr. Wilson's 7th grade social studies classes compared and contrasted North and South Korea by doing a gallery walk. They looked at pictures ranging from cars to school. Students had to analyze and determine how the pictures reflected the country. Nice work, Wildcats!

ANNUAL REPORT to PARENTS
CHROMEBOOKS
At the beginning of the year, each student was issued a Chromebook, a charger, and a Chromebook case. If all three of these items are not returned at the end of the school year, students will be charged to replace them. A Chromebook is $400, a charger is $60 and a case is $25. If all three items are not returned, or if a student does not pay to replace them, the student will not be given a report card at the end of the year. The student will also not be given a device to use next year. If a student currently owes fees for Chromebook damage, that must also be paid in order to receive the report card and a device next year. These charges will follow students to high school, so this announcement applies to all three grade levels.
SCHOOL DISTRICT CALENDAR
MOBILE PHONE POLICY
Students should know that cell phones, headphones, earbuds (for non-academic purposes), and other similar devices cannot be visible and should be placed out of sight upon entering Clinton Middle School. These devices are not allowed at any time that students are in the building between the hours of 7:30am and 3:45pm. Students who violate this policy will receive consequences and repeat offenders will receive out of school suspensions. Please review this policy with your child. Parents should know that if they need to communicate a message to a student at Clinton Middle School, they may do so by calling (864) 833-0807.
PHYSICAL ALTERCATIONS at SCHOOL
Fights and all other physical altercations pose a very serious threat to students and staff members. Maintaining a safe environment for everyone is our top priority. Effective immediately, any student involved in a fight or physical altercation will be suspended from school for a minimum of 10 days and will automatically be recommended for expulsion. Additionally, any student that instigates a fight or physical altercation will face the same consequence of 10 days of out of school suspension and will also be recommended for expulsion. Please keep in mind that students can receive these same consequences for making threats to fight, jump, or harm others. All of this has been communicated to students repeatedly since the first day of school.
