Families will have the opportunity to tour our school, visit classrooms, see our current STEM projects, talk to administrations, teachers, and even current students, and get questions answered at an Administrative presentation, which will kick-off each session.
This is a great opportunity for them to learn about Osceola Science Charter School.

Red Ribbon Week at OSCS
October 23- 31
Each year, Red Ribbon Week is celebrated by thousands of schools all over the country from October 23 - 31. During this time, an emphasis is placed on discussing the importance of making positive life choices and avoiding the temptation to use drugs and alcohol. OSCS celebrated this year with a school-wide presentation by PVO and a school-wide picture to pledge against the use of drugs!

Storybook Charater Parade
October 31st
Osceola Science Charter School hosted a school-wide. Students were encouraged to dress up as their favorite story book characters. Students choose any character from a book they enjoy.
Hispanic Heritage Night
October 26th
This is fun-filled night was dedicated to celebrating Hispanic heritage. Families had the opportunity to experience different aspects of Hispanic culture by visiting various stations in the cafeteria, and learning about each culture. There was a student-led presentation for different South American countries.
Thank you to all the families and staff that provided the delicious foods and helped decorate and organize the event. A special gracias to Ms. Blanes and Ms. Garcia for coordinating this great fiesta!

Scholastic Book Fair
OSCS Parents,
We would like to thank each of you for all of your support which lead to a successful book fair. We had total sales of $8,000 which gives us commission of 50% to get books for our school library.

October 26th- a treat will be given to students at 25% of their goal.
November 16th- a treat will be given to students at 50% of their goal.
December 7th- a treat will be given to students at 75% of their goal.
December 21st- AR Party (for students meeting 100% of their goal.

UPCOMING EVENTS
OSCS STEM Day
November 8th
National STEM Day celebrates advances in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. These fields of industry are becoming ever more relevant and important.
Osceola Science Charter School will be celebrating this day through schoolwide STEM activities for each grade level. Each teacher within the grade level will be leading a unique STEM activity. Fostering a love for the science and engineering process is one of the foundational philosophies of this school and we look forward to celebrating together!
Maker Faire Orlando 2018
November 10-11th
Maker Faire Orlando is a non-profit, community-organized, family-friendly celebration featuring local do-it-yourself science, art, rockets, robots, crafts, technology, music, hands-on-activities, and more. The exhibits are in 3 air-conditioned exhibit halls and in the green spaces between the expo halls. All parking is on-site, and is free. A variety of food choices are available from on-site food vendors. It’s an event where people show what they are making and share what they are learning. The individuals behind these exhibits are known as “Makers” and they range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community.
Maker Faire Orlando 2018 will be held on Saturday, November 10th and Sunday, November 11th and is open from 10am to 5pm both days. The event will take place at the Central Florida Fairgrounds.
MATH KANGAROO OLYMPIAD - MATH COMPETITION
March 21st, 2019
Math Kangaroo Competition is an International Olympiad in Mathematics with plenty of fun and learning! Osceola Science Charter School. is proudly hosting one of the sessions. Families can register their children in all grade levels. There will be 60 available seats, on a first come-first serve bases.
The participation fee is $21 ($20+$1; $1 is to cover processing fee). Financial assistance is offered to families in hardship; please contact finance@mathkangaroo.org.

- Parents: please be sure that you complete an Oasis Volunteer Application. All parents must be cleared through Oasis to enter the school and/or participate in field trips. Applications must be completed every year.
