Class of 2024
Senior Information & Graduation Guide
Dear Class of 2024 and Their Parents/Guardians:
This time of year always leaves me feeling a bit melancholy. We are fully preparing for seniors to exit their educational experience of the Avon Local Schools, while preparing for the current eight graders to come up from AMS. It is very hard to let go of the seniors, especially when they have been such a great group of people.
Seniors: these next few months will be exhilarating and bittersweet moments for you. While some of you have already started a myriad of countdowns, I want to encourage you to make the most of the time remaining at AHS. Soak in the experiences that will be unfolding as we celebrate you!
Let’s continue to work together to keep you focused on the end game: Life beyond the Nest.
Class of 2024, it has been my honor to serve as your principal.
Eagle proud,
Mrs. Kristina Dobos Buller
Grades - Your Ticket to a Diploma!
Please review our grading policy. It is necessary to pass two of the last three grade entries in a year-long course; the third quarter, fourth quarter, and/or final exam.
Colleges request final transcripts of all graduates and have the right to decline membership to those who have final transcripts with failed courses. Too many of our previous seniors believed that college acceptance is irrevocable. This is not the case. Be wise with your final choices as an Eagle.
Social Media - Own your Brand
Again, colleges do not have to take you. Athletic commitments are revocable. Scholarships are revocable. Admittance is revocable. Own your brand. Everything you share or comment on in regard to social media is public, not protected, and should be considered front page material. Nothing on social media is ever private.
Financial Obligations
Deadline: March 1, 2024
All Avon Local School District student fees, College Credit Plus payments, Avon Academy fees, previous lost or missing textbooks, athletic equipment, outstanding Pay to Participate fees, and any other financial and/or material obligations are due by Friday, March 1, 2024. Commencement caps and gowns and related materials will not be distributed to any student at Commencement practice with outstanding financial obligations.
Additionally, fines accrued between March 1, 2024 and final exams, must be resolved prior to the end of the day on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.
A student’s fee balance due is available in PowerSchool. Or, you can email Mrs. Reinart at reinartc@avoneagles.org and she can provide you with an itemized list of outstanding fees.
Fee payments are currently accepted through the www.payschoolscentral.com, our online credit card system, or by check or money order, made payable to the Avon Board of Education. Payment can be delivered to school with your senior by March 1, 2024, or can be mailed to: Avon High School, Attn: Courtnay Reinart, 37545 Detroit Road, Avon, OH 44011.
Questions about fees can be directed to Courtnay Reinart at 440-934-6171.
Avon Community Scholarships
There is still time to complete an Avon Community Scholarships application! All application packets are due in Student Services by March 19, 2024. Copies of the scholarship packet can be found in the Student Services office and/or below. Please pay attention to the last page of the packet for additional scholarship opportunities within our community. The scholarships listed on the last page have various deadlines - please read them carefully. Take advantage of these amazing opportunities to help support your post-secondary education!
Class of 2024 Graduate Data Form & Transcript Information
As a part of a data collection, seniors will be asked to denote where they wish Avon High School to send final transcripts. If a student changes his/her college intention after submission of this form, it is critical that a student advises Mrs. Grudzien of the change or transcripts will not make it to the intended college.
Seniors will attend a required assembly to complete their exit survey on Thursday, April 18th during 5th period in the Auditorium.
Seniors, if you are not able to be on campus on April 18th during the assembly, please email Mrs. Grudzien at grudzienk@avoneagles.org for further instructions.
The data collected from this form will also be published in the Avon Avenues Graduation Issue this summer as well.
Senior Week - April 22nd - 26th
This year, the senior class officers have requested to sponsor a senior week filled with spirit days and events. Their plans are still fluid so stay tuned for more details.
Senior Awards Night
Avon High School’s Senior Awards Night is on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at 6:00pm in the Avon Performing Arts Center. The accomplishments of the Class of 2024 will be highlighted, and this includes the awardment of numerous scholarships.
Expect this event to last approximately two and half hours. Due to AP testing, we have moved this event up by 30 minutes from the originally posted time of 6:30pm.
Teams who compete that evening often arrive at the program in their baseball, softball, or track uniforms. Dropping in post competition is completely acceptable.
Students receiving a recognition will be sent an invitation. Recipients are expected to attend.
Senior Awards Night is a dress-up occasion. Seniors commonly wear dress pants and a shirt and tie, and/or dresses/skirts, etc. Please make sure to wear shoes that you are comfortable wearing while climbing steps and crossing a stage. Additionally, please be modest in attire as this is an esteemed ceremony. Warning: the PAC stage is high above the ground and short skirts are too revealing to the front rows.
As the event will take place in the Performing Arts Center, there is not a limit to the number of guests seniors may bring to this event. It is common to have a parent, grandparent or even siblings as guests.
Senior Prom Information - A Night Under the Stars
Prom will take place on Saturday, May 11th, at 6:00pm at FirstEnergy Stadium located at 100 Alfred Lerner Way in Cleveland.
Tickets will go on sale starting on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024. Sales will be online only. Notification of ticket sales will be sent in a separate email directly to you.
Please note: seniors who have not met their fee obligations will not be able to purchase a ticket to prom.
Each AHS senior may bring one guest. Please note: more than half of all attendees go with groups of friends. Don’t get a date to just have one, it’s not a fun experience and very awkward. Let the dance be all about you!
All prom guests who do not attend Avon High School must get prior authorization before attending prom. Guests must be at least a freshman in high school and no older than 20 years of age. Guests must have a photo ID upon arrival to prom as well.
Attire to prom is formal. Formal is defined as a full suit or tuxedo with tie, a full length gown, and/or dress pants and a blouse.

Commencement
The Class of 2024 will graduate from Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet Stadium in Avon, on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 7:00pm.
Seniors will be driven by school buses from Avon High School to the Avon Early Learning Center/Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet Stadium at 5:30pm that evening to alleviate unnecessary cars at the stadium.
Currently, tickets are required to attend Commencement 2024. These tickets will be distributed during commencement practice to each student on Monday, May 20, 2024. Families and guests will be able to enter the stadium through the north and south gates as early as 6:15pm. Each family will be provided with ten (10) tickets. Both bleachers will be open to guests.
A very small section of the track is reserved for those individuals who have physical disability and are unable to ambulate the ADA compliant bleachers. Each individual with a disability tag will be permitted to have one guest with them on the ground. Entire families may not sit in this section that is reserved for the disabled. Reservations for these seats are not taken; it is a first come, first serve section. Additional disabled parking spots are created for this event and those spaces will be noted to you in a map of the stadium closer to Commencement.
Thursday, May 23, 2023 at 7:00pm will be our rain date.
Further details and updates will follow closer to graduation.
Commencement Attire Requirements & Helpful Hints
As commencement is outside on field turf, flat shoes must be worn. Heels will not be permitted. Also, field mulch will get into shoes; thus closed toe shoes are recommended.
- Those graduates who choose to wear dresses typically wear a light colored dress and dress shoes.
- As we graduate on the field turf, shoes with a heel may not be worn as it ruins the turf. All shoes must have a flat sole. Wedge shoes are permissible. Men’s dress shoes with less than a one inch rise on the heel are also acceptable.
- Those graduates who choose to wear pants typically wear a white dress shirt, tie, dark dress pants, dark socks and dress shoes.
- Flip flops are prohibited.
- Jeans, shorts, cut-offs, sweats, t-shirts, sports jerseys, and/or tank tops are prohibited.
- Please iron your gown on low heat and be careful not to burn it.
- Graduates are only permitted to wear AHS bestowed honor cords, stoles, and medals. Outside regalia is not permitted.
- Graduates will not be permitted to decorate their caps.
Smoke Free Grounds
School grounds are tobacco free zones in accordance with Ohio law. Seniors, this is not the time to smoke a cigar or ignite a vape. Law enforcement has the right and responsibility to remove you from the property or site individuals. Please don’t lose the moments after graduation to an awkward and unlawful experience. It’s your day; keep it a good one.
Senior Notice Regarding Commencement
The following information is referred to in the AHS student handbook:
Commencement is a privilege and not a right. For failure to pay fees, disciplinary actions, and/or other reasons, the administration has the right to deny the privilege of participating in Commencement and all activities associated with it. Participation in Commencement is optional.
Those students who choose to partake in Commencement must fulfill their obligations and cooperate during practices. Students who fail to meet these requirements may be denied the privilege to participate in the Commencement ceremony.
