A Message from Mrs. Culpepper
Dear Westlake Elementary Families,
Thank you to all of the parents and students who helped and performed at the talent show. It was so much fun and I loved watching all of the kids perform. They worked so hard and we couldn't be prouder of them.
Just a reminder we will be on spring break starting Friday, March 29th. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, April 8th.
Please use the sidewalks on both sides of the parking lot. It is very dangerous to have kids walking through the parking lot during pick up and drop off. Help us to keep all of our students safe by following traffic signs and using the sidewalks.
Lost and found will be bagged up after school on March 28th and donated. Please make sure to look through the lost and found for any of your child's belongings.
Please read this email in its entirety as it contains important information about upcoming events, the digital backpack with flyers, the lunch menu and more! All of our enrichment activity information is located in the digital backpack.

3rd-5th Grade Homework Club
We will be running a homework help club from 2:45-3:45 on Monday through Thursday. If you would like your child to participate, you may sign them up using this form. A new form will be sent out every week in the weekly newsletter. You will need to sign up your child(ren) every week. This is designed for students that are not already getting help in ELOP or child care. ALL students need to be picked up at 3:45.
Spots are limited and it is based on a first come, first serve basis. Please remember if you sign up and don't attend, you are taking the spot of someone else. Therefore, only sign up for the days you will definately attend. If you have more than one child you would like to sign up, please fill out a form for each.
If you are able to sign up, there is space. The form will close when Homework Help is full. If students finish their homework before 3:45, we will provide them with an alternate activity.
Human Growth and Development
Our 4th and 5th graders are invited to participate in our Human Growth and Development video sessions. All of the information went out to 4th and 5th grade families. Click below to find out more about the videos and dates for viewing.

Campus Cleanliness and Lost & Found
Calling all adults and students: Help to keep our campus clean! Let's help out our Custodians and Campus Supervisors to keep our campus clean. If you see a clothing item, lunchbox, water bottle or trash, grab it and take it in the Lost & Found or trash. We have lots of Lost & Found by our lunch area. Please check to see if your missing lunch box, sweatshirt, or water bottle is there. We will bag it up and donate it all soon.
Let's come together as a community. We can make a meaningful impact on the cleanliness and safety of our school. Your support in this endeavor is invaluable, as it not only beautifies our surroundings but also sets a positive example for the students. Let's unite to create a clean and nurturing space for our Wizards to thrive and take pride in!
Birthdays
Please note that due to dietary restrictions and covid protocols, we ask that you not bring in any treats or food to your child's class. If you would like to pass something out, supplies or goodie bags are permitted.

Attendance
Please remember that all absences must be phoned in to our attendance line, via a recorded message at: 805-494-0324
Be sure to state the date and reason for your child’s absence or late arrival, and your child’s teacher or room number. Any unexcused absence is counted as truancy. Students are allowed only three truancies per year before action is taken. Planning ahead with your child will also help to avoid unnecessary tardiness. Students who arrive on time feel better about school and perform better in the classroom.
Lunch Program
Although all students will receive meals at no charge again this school year it is very important for parents or guardians, to complete and submit an application for free or reduced meals as soon as possible after July 1st.
Visit https://conejo.vcoe.org/fsonline/Main/Login to complete the application online starting on July 1st, 2023. For first-time applicants, it's recommended to use a desktop computer to set up your profile. If your student is found eligible to receive meal benefits it might also qualify your family for discounts on gas, electricity, cell phone or cable service, and a waiver to take the SAT and ACT tests.
PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE SCHOOL SITE AND DISTRICT OFFICE AFTER JULY 1ST
Welcome to Westlake Elementary: a new webpage of flyers from community groups/organizations that will be used to reduce the amount of paper that your child takes home in their backpack.
Click on the button below for information regarding Chorus, Band, Strings, and all CRPD enrichment classes.
Please Note: The Conejo Valley Unified School District approves flyers from organizations as a community service. The distribution, posting, or publishing of these materials is *NOT* the District's endorsement of the group's activities, products, or services.
