What is it and where does it come from?
Paprika is mainly made of crushed up red chili peppers. The spice is mainly associated with Hungary, where it is commonly used. Paprika is mainly produced in Hungary, Serbia, Spain, and some regions of the United States. Paprika generally grows best in warmer temps.
How is it used?
Paprika is commonly used to add color. But what many people don't realize is that it can be used to flavor too!There are three different levels of spiciness that paprika can add. Mild, spicy and very spicy. The flavors are activated when you cook paprika in oil or heat it, but don't don't heat it too much! It can burn up! The three different variations can depend on the peppers used to make it.
Facts about it!
Paprika can go bad! If you don't keep paprika in an airtight container and away from sunlight it can ruin it! Try to only buy it in small amounts and only buy good quality paprika.

- Paprika is the National spice of Hungary and has a 200 year history there.
- Villages in Hungary become red when the peppers are harvested because the villagers hang the hundreds of peppers outside to dry.
