DID YOU KNOW? Katy ISD has a NEW community resource guide for families!
This resource directory was compiled as an aid to our Katy ISD students, parents and community members in locating local resources. Inclusion in this directory does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of services by district. Katy ISD spans three counties, Harris, Fort Bend and Waller so please be advised that some services are specific to the county of residence. This directory includes the most commonly used nonprofit, private, local, state and government resources available and is not intended to be complete. Directory information is rapidly changing and can become outdated. If you find any errors or have information on new resources for consideration, please feel free to contact us.
NO PHOTOS OR VIDEO ALLOWED DURING YOUR LUNCH VISIT IN THE CAFETERIA. THANK YOU!
With flu season hitting early this year, the clinic staff wanted to provide the families of Morton Ranch Elementary with some important information regarding staying healthy during this flu season. To prevent widespread flu in the school, we recommend that your child stay home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms.
To decide whether to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines:
Keep your child at home for treatment and observation if he or she has any of these symptoms:
• Fever- greater than 100°F and your child should stay home until at least 24 hours after they no longer have a fever. This should be determined without the use of fever-reducing medicines (any medicine that contains ibuprofen or acetaminophen).
• Vomiting (even once)
• Diarrhea
• Chills
• General malaise or feelings of fatigue, discomfort, weakness, or muscle aches
• Frequent cough
• Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of the nose
To help prevent the flu and other colds, teach your children good hygiene habits:
• Wash hands frequently (Using a paper tissue, throw it away and then wash hands)
• Do not touch eyes, nose, or mouth
• Cover mouth and nose with elbow when sneezing or coughing
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick
It is recommended everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year.
Consult your family doctor for recommendations on which flu vaccine to get. For more information on where to find a flu vaccine near you, use the link below: hhttps://www.vaccines.gov/find-vaccines/
For additional information please contact your healthcare provider or campus nurse.
Does your child have fever, diarrhea, or vomiting?
Your child must be 24 hours free of the above symptoms without medication and/or complete 24 hours on an antibiotic before returning to school
If your child has a fever (100.0 or above), please call in your child’s absence at 281-234-0300.
- We do not keep extra clothes in the clinic.
- Please pack extra clothes in your child’s backpack to help (all ages)
- All medications must be kept in the clinic.
Make sure your child eats a good breakfast and packs a snack. It’s hard for your child to have fun learning when they’re hungry!
REMINDER THAT ALL STUDENTS AT MRE SHOULD HAVE A CHANGE OF CLOTHES
Our clinic needs your help! All students at MRE need a change of clothes in their backpack. We want to minimize the amount of instruction that students miss when an accident occurs. Students should be able to change clothes in the clinic and return to class. However, students are often waiting in the clinic for a change of clothes, resulting in the loss of instruction.
Students often need a change of clothes for nosebleeds, food/drink accidents, sickness, etc.
YMCA After School Program at MRE
YMCA After School programs are more than child care. They offer structured activities that are age appropriate while encouraging a fun and active way to extend learning from the classroom. Housed in MORTON RANCH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, children learn skills for their future like building confidence and social awareness with a comprehensive curriculum that covers STEM, literacy, arts & humanities, social and emotional well-being, physical fitness, empathy, service learning and more.
