UIL Concert and Sight Reading Itineraries
Symphonic Band goes to UIL on Tuesday, April 11, and Wind Ensemble goes to UIL on Wednesday, April 12. We are having one after school rehearsals per band the week of UIL Concert and Sight Reading to make sure the groups are ready for contest after the 4-day Easter weekend (April 7-10). Please mark your calendars now.
Monday, April 10th (no school)
- 5-6:30 pm - Symphonic Band rehearsal
Tuesday, April 11th (School day, but band directors will be at contest with Symphonic Band during the school day)
- 4:45-6:15 pm - Wind Ensemble rehearsal
We are the only 4A school in our district sending two bands, and we are very proud of everyone’s hard work in preparing for the evaluation. Parent are welcome to attend the concert and sight reading portion of the contest. Video/audio recordings are not allowed in the sight reading room.
Students need to bring these items with them to school the day they go to UIL.
- Black dress shoes (closed toe), black crew length socks or hosiery, white undershirt for boys.
- Money for Pizza at Peter Piper Pizza - you will have some time to play games if you would like. The buffet and a drink are $12.75 with tax.
- Bring your school clothes with you on the bus so you can change out of your tux/dress at Seguin HS before getting food.
- 7:00 am - Call Time - Donuts provided
- 7:15 am - Warm Up
- 7:45 am - Load truck and change into concert uniforms
- 8:15 am - Leave DHS
- 9:15 am - Arrive at Seguin HS
- 9:55 am - Warm Up
- 10:30 am - Concert
- 11:00 am - Sight Reading
- 11:30 am - Change clothes and load
- 12:30 - Peter Piper Pizza
- 1:30 - Leave for DHS
- 2:00 - Back on campus - Go to 6th period :)
Wind Ensemble - Wednesday, April 12
- 6:30 am - Call Time - Donuts provided
- 6:45 am - Change into Concert Uniforms
- 7:15 am - Leave DHS
- 8:15 am - Arrive at Seguin HS

We will be taking nominations from the floor at Band Booster Exec Board Elections at our April Band Booster Meeting on April 19th at 6:30 pm in the DHS Auditorium.
Bond
The Comal ISD School Board called for a bond at their workshop on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. I encourage you to educate yourself and others regarding the bond, and I encourage everyone to vote. Information about the bond can be found by following the link below.

Proposition B will benefit the band and color guard by giving us additional seating in our stadium. Comal ISD residents will have the opportunity to vote in the bond election on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The deadline to register to vote is Thursday, April 6. Early voting begins April 24 and runs through May 2.
