APR Community Connections
January 2022 Edition
Principal Message
Welcome 2022! I wish our APR students, staff, and families a Happy New Year!! In 2022, we appreciated the support you have provided our students and their teachers. January is a time for new beginnings, and many students find their “groove” in the spring semester. Gone are the many emotional twists and turns of the beginning of school, and now is the time to celebrate the first semester and to look towards finishing the year strong.
With COVID cases increasing, please make sure you review the protocols below prior to sending your child to school. Thank you to everyone for keeping us safe by wearing a mask while on campus.
The Class of 2022 Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 26th at 7PM at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts. Please begin to get ready to celebrate our seniors!
A HUGE shout out to our Cosmetology Senior students along with Ms. Murray and Ms. Thaxton for an amazing job with the Senior Capstone Project. It was an experience that I will not forget and I know is memorable for our students. Thank you to those who contributed and assisted with this amazing performance. Please take a moment to enjoy the pictures below.
Join us next Thursday, January 24th at 5PM for our monthly SAC meeting. We would love to see some new faces:)
Parents/Guardians, we really need your assistance. Please send your child to school in complete uniform and on time (8:15AM). You know your child is in complete uniform because they have the following:
- APR Uniform Shirt
- Acceptable pants (black/tan khaki bermuda shorts/pants)
- ID around their neck
- Laptop
- Mask (unless opt form is completed in FOCUS)
- On APR Campus by 8:15AM
Let's continue this positive momentum as WE "Build OUR Tomorrow!" GO Jaguars!!
Respectfully,
Megan McKinney

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you--APR Popcorn Fundraiser was a SUCCESS!
Our 1st school wide fundraiser was a success! Thanks to the efforts of many, we were able to amass over $6,300 in popcorn 🍿 sales with 50% of the proceeds coming back to the school. I want to personally thank Lalah Conley, Darwell Thorne, Ms. Clayton, and Mrs. Crews for setting a goal and having over $500 in sales.
A reminder, this event was set up to support student programs.
In the event you missed an opportunity to purchase during this event, there will be another fundraiser scheduled in the near future.
Again, thanks to all!

Cosmetology Capstone Program 2021-2022
Five categories that were showcased consisted of:
(1) APR Career Academies,
(2) Elite Athlete's,
(3) Kings, Queens, & Leaders,
(4) Fashion Icons, and
(5) Musical Icons.
The Cosmo Capstone involved about 70 people made up of students from all academies and throughout the school, teachers, faculty, parents, and the community. Support was given behind the scenes, in front of the camera, stagehands and prop set-up, music, IT (documentary & journalism) etc. This event showed that all things are possible with hard work, determination, much support, and the willingness to learn. Everyone that participated enjoyed the event, especially the students that were models and parents that were able to see the manifestation of their child's hard work!!
