Mercury's Orbit
Venus's Orbit
Earth's Orbit
Mar's Orbit
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. The orbit of Mar's i the second most eccentric in the solar system. The average distance from Mars to the sun is 228 million km and takes 687 Earth days to complete an orbit. Because of Mar's axis tilt is similar to Earth's. Mars has seasons like Earths.
Jupiter's Orbit
Saturn's Orbit
Uranus's Orbit
Neptune's Orbit
The Inner Planets
The Outer Planets
Galillean Moons
Galilean Moons were discovered by Galileo in 1610. They are the 4 largest moons orbiting Jupiter. This discovery showed the impotance of the telescope as a tool for astronomers. Helped disprove the idea that the Earth was the center of the Solar System. The sun was the center of the Solar System.
Comets, Meteors & Asteriods
Comets ~ are also frequently found out here in deep space or their way toward or away from the sun. Their orbits can take dozens or even thousands of years to complete once. Comets are bits of rock and dust mixed with frozen compounds.
Meteors ~ are small rocks that are constantly shooting around in outer space. These objects are pulled in by gravity of planets and moons and streak through the objects atmosphere becoming a meteor and if it doesn't burn up entirely and actually strikes the surface its called a meteorite.
Rotation & Revolution
Rotation ~ when a object or something is spinning like a top. the planets spin and revolve at the same time when they orbit the sun.
