TWEET OF THE WEEK
ARD Guidance
One Sided Printing
Prior to sending original copies to Support Services, please be sure they are ONE SIDED and double check archived scanned.
Clerical Error Forms
The Clerical Error Form can be found in eSTAR under eStar Docs and in LiveBinder. http://www.livebinders.com/media/get/MTQyMjIyMDQ
Also, the attached IEP page to the form should be highlighted to show the correction
Do Not Delete in eSped:
Please do not delete any files from eSped. If you are needing a student profile or archived document to be deleted, contact LeAnne Taylor.
Scheduling Homebound ARDs:
When scheduling ARDs for students receiving homebound services, they Should be scheduled on Fridays or during the HB student’s HB time--not during GE teacher conference time. HB teachers have very tight and strict schedules. Scheduling ARDs outside of these windows causes other students’ appointments to need to be rescheduled. This is difficult on the schedules of the parent(s), student(s), and homebound teacher(s).
Considering Homebound or Shortened School Day:
Procedures:
1. Get signed release of confidential info form completed by the parent in
order to be able to speak with doctor.
2. LSSP/Diag faxes to the form to the doctor (do not give to parent)
Consideration for Shortened School Day Form/ Homebound Needs
Assessment.
3. When returned from doctor, notify coordinator to discuss district
recommendations and/or need for staffing prior to ARD.
4. Convene ARD to consider shortened school day/HB services.
Sharing Information with Transportation:
Please ensure that when Revision ARDs are held to make changes to an IEP, that pertinent information is shared with Transportation. Examples of pertinent information are Behavior Intervention Plans, Personal Care Supplements, Nursing, etc.
NARR Review STAAR Testing:
Coordinators will be reviewing the list of students who have been ARDed as NAAR for STAAR Testing. Should a student not fully qualify based on the review, campuses will be required to hold Revision ARDs to address the appropriate test for the student.
Deadline to hold Revision ARD if adjustments are necessary: March 9, 2018.
PLAAFPs:
Please remember to review the PLAAFP template guidance that was shared at the start of this school year. The template can be found in LiveBinder using the link below. http://www.livebinders.com/play/play/1897767?backurl=%2Fshelf%2 Fmy&play_view=play&utf8=%E2%9C%93#anchor
Recording ARDs:
When an ARD meeting is being recorded, only utilize district issued equipment to make the recording. Personal cell phones/recording devices should not be used.
Computer Data Entry Sheets (CDES):
All ARDs should be archived and submitted to Support Services with an attached (and current) Computer Data Entry Sheet.
Revision ARDs for Consideration of Change of Placement:
When holding an ARD meeting to propose a change in placement, the ARD must be a review of the entire IEP. Students who are being moved to a more restrictive setting require additional accommodations, modifications, and IEP goals to best support their progress. Their PLAAFPs should also be adjusted to reflect the consideration for change of placement.
Advocate ARDs
If a parent shares they are bringing an advocate with to an ARD meeting, please contact a coordinator or director to set a date/time to also attend the ARD. Occasionally, instructional specialists will be asked to sit in the ARDs if coordinators are unable to attend.
Also, please remember to always address the parents when reviewing the IEP in the ARD meeting. Advocates are there to support the parents in these meetings but the district commitment is still with the parents and student.
