A Message From The Co-Principals
Good Afternoon and Happy Friday,
The past few weeks have been amazing at JHS!!! We are certainly getting into the holiday spirit!!!!
As you get ready to start the winter break, we ask you to take a few extra minutes reviewing this issue of the Jayhawk Blast. Learn about upcoming events as well as highlights at JHS over the past few weeks (including Model Congress competing at Yale, the annual Fashion/Talent Show, and our visit from a delegation of educators from China). We have also included some articles including one about how to help our teens make good decisions over the winter break.
Most importantly, we want to wish everyone in the JHS community a restful break, a wonderful holiday season, and a very happy New Year!!!

HIGH SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
From December 5-8th, Jericho’s 24 best delegates went to New Haven, Connecticut to compete in the Yale Model Congress competition. These students spent four days debating an extensive number of proposed legislative bills on a myriad of current topics. The conference also provides the students with the opportunity to tour the Yale campus and interact socially with students from throughout the metropolitan area. On behalf of all the officers and advisors, Jericho Model Congress would like to congratulate Blake Mayorian and Davesh Valogolam on winning Honorable Mentions in their committee sessions, and Jennifer Baek for winning the Best Legislation award in her committee. Jericho Model Congress also competes in the Penn Model Congress competition, and will resume preparation for their upcoming trip following winter break.
Fashion/Talent Show was a Big Success:
The JHS Fashion/Talent Show was held on Saturday, December 7 at 7:00 pm in the HS Auditorium. Mrs. Jill Kahan, JHS math teacher and fashion/talent show coordinator said, "We had an amazing show this year. We raised around 7,000 dollars for The Jeffrey Rattner Scholarship Fund. The students had a great time strutting down the runway, dancing, and singing."

On Tuesday, December 17, Jericho HS/MS hosted a group of 24 educators from China. Our visitors enjoyed a tour of the campus, classroom visits, a luncheon with staff as well as students and a panel discussion to learn about various aspects of education in Jericho and throughout NY. We want to thank our partners at the Asia Society for sponsoring the event. A huge shout out to the following JHS student ambassadors from the Chinese Honor Society for leading the tours and some classroom visits:
Wesley Pergament, Matthew Lecher, Maya Yu, Dylan Swickle, Nicholas Yum, Boshi Li and Iris Zhu, Larry Ding, Avery Porges and Jason Suh.
