Let's Go Dance
The children on Tuesday were absolutely delighted to be supported in their desire to have an impromptu 'disco". The Pelican's had the Kookaburras join them in their room for a fun dance, the children decided whether they wanted to be a dancer, singer or in the audience. Chairs were arranged so the audience could be close to the action. Some children chose to be at the front leading the dance and singing, while others were happy to fine tune their rhythmic skills at the back or in the middle of the group.
This experience was child initiated and supported by the teacher with some very fine dance moves shown by the boys and girls. The "traffic dance" shown by Mrs Nicol was a favourite and challenged even the most coordinated dancer. A congo line was formed with Mrs Dickson at the lead and managed to go quite a distance between both the preschool rooms. Of course, no disco would be complete without "Eye of the Tiger" along with "Who let the dogs out?" and Mrs Steinmann as DJ certainly ensured the 4/5 year old musical expectations were met. It was a lot of fun and it was good to see all of the children participate fully in the spontaneous disco.

Paper Prints!
Isabelle and Millie painted a picture together on the easel. At the completion of their work, both girls stood back to admire their masterpiece. Then began the discussion about who was going to take it home. First, they thought of doing another painting together, but then Isabelle came up with a solution to their problem.
Isabelle said, "We can do a paper print of the painting, then we can each take one home".
So the two girls laid the new sheet of paper over the top of their artwork and rubbed the paper gently, then they peeled the top piece of paper down to reveal a copy of the original piece of art. Both girls were excited as they watched the painting appear on a previous blank piece of paper. They carried out the process several more times, making more prints of the original.
