Message from Mr. Miranda - Principal
Hello Students, Parents and Guardians,
We are down to the final stretch of the school year! Seniors do not take the foot off of the pedal yet. Please work to keep the focus on graduation and marching May 22nd! Underclassman, continue to check your grades and communicate with teachers so that you do not miss out on any credits. We are still signing up students for summer school. Speak to a counselor for more details or visit our Cholla Website.
Cholla Campus Sweeps will continue, so make sure you are getting to every class on time. Parents, we need your help to get your child here on time in the morning. Please plan to arrive by 7:45am so that they have ample time for 1st period.
Go Chargers!

Curriculum Updates by Cathy Adams - Assistant Principal
Seniors now is the time to ensure that you have passed your CPR/First Aid and Civics tests, as these are graduation requirements. If you are working on classes in credit recovery, the deadline to complete them in order to graduate on May 22nd, 2024, is Friday, May 17th, 2024. If you already know that you will not make this deadline, please enroll in summer school. There is a graduation ceremony in June also (date, time, and location to be determined). Caps and gowns will be in soon, we will make announcements as soon as we have the dates.
Parents, Graduation this year is on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024, on the Ed Brown Football Field here at Cholla. Please plan to arrive early for parking and seating, as every year it is standing room only. We look forward to celebrating with all of you! Only clear bags will be allowed (this includes diaper bags must be clear). This policy will be strictly enforced for everyone’s safety. More information will be sent out in a parent link as we get closer to graduation. We look forward to finishing the year strong and graduating at least 300 of our 314 seniors.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at Cathy Adams.

Counseling Department
Dear Cholla Students,
As we embark upon our final quarter of the academic year, it's crucial to ensure that we're all on track to finish strong. With just a few months left, now is the time to double down on attendance, assignments, and overall academic performance. Remember, your efforts now can make all the difference in avoiding the need for summer school.
**Attention Seniors and Their Adults:**
If there's any uncertainty regarding your graduation status, we urge you to reach out to your counselors as soon as possible. We've made extensive efforts to connect with every senior who may be at risk of not graduating, as well as their guardians. However, if we haven't been able to make contact with you yet, please take the initiative to get in touch with us.
Seniors, it's essential to ensure that you're passing all classes required for graduation. Every class, every assignment, and every credit counts towards your goal of walking across the stage in May. Don't let a stumble in the second semester hold you back from this milestone.
Additionally, please ensure that your Civics and CPR requirements are complete. We're sending weekly emails to students who are still missing these crucial components, so be sure to check your inbox and take the necessary steps to fulfill these obligations.
**For 9th - 11th Graders:**
Don't forget, if you are missing credits, the time to sign up for summer school is now! Having accurate registration allows us to make sure we have the right number of teachers, and waiting until the last minute may mean we are full and you will have to attend elsewhere. Take proactive steps to secure your spot and ensure a smooth transition into summer school if needed.
Your success is our top priority, and we're here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance with anything related to your academic journey, please don't hesitate to reach out to the counseling department. We're here to help you achieve your goals and celebrate your accomplishments.
Let's finish this year strong, Cholla!
Warm regards,
The Cholla Counseling Department
IB - International Baccalaureate by Teresa Green
March ended with a Verification Visit from IBO representatives. We are excitedly waiting to hear about our authorization to offer the new IB Career-Related Certificate Programme to our rising Juniors. We are thrilled to have 30 students requesting this programme that builds bridges between rigorous college preparatory academic courses with essential career technical courses offered at Cholla. We also have 16 rising juniors requesting the IB Diploma Programme and 83 students requesting to pursue IB Course Certificates! Come to the Cholla Extravaganza on April 24 for more information about these three options.
Testing season for AP and IB is nearing, May 1-16. As the Coordinator for both of these college preparatory pathways at Cholla, I will be meeting with students on April 16 and 17 to give them information about the testing sessions.
If your child is enrolled in an AP course or IB Spanish course, I will be visiting their classrooms on April 16. You are welcome to join in and hear this information.
If your child is enrolled in 12th grade IB courses, I will be presenting testing information during SEL (9:45-10:15) in the Auditorium. Parents are welcome to join in this meeting as well.
April 23, many IB students will be showcasing their work in the Commons and Library during the Cholla Extravaganza. Rising Juniors who have requested the IB Career-Related Programme or the Diploma Programme and their parents are especially invited to join us for an IB Signing Event!
Come check out what IB can do for you and your child's future!

The Cholla Faculty has selected Aniyah Willmott as our Kiwanis Student of the Year. It was a closely contested vote, and Kiley Titus and Celeste Salcido were present as Students of the Month. We appreciate everyone who participated in the voting process, and we congratulate these outstanding students!
Library Updates by Ms. Case
Library
The library has been closed a large portion of this semester for two displaced teachers and also testing. Please be patient as we complete the month of April and see where we are in May. Students can always return books to the book return slot, even if the library is closed. Traditionally, the library is closed the last two weeks of school to wrap up the semester. Students should be checking their TUSD email to see weekly emails from the library on books that are outstanding. Fines must be paid before the end of the school year.
21st Century
If any students have any siblings who will be freshmen next year, they are encouraged to sign up for Freshman Academy. They should see their middle school counselors to obtain the registration link or email Cody House. The last day for 21st Century programming will be May 3. We are encouraging all students to think outside the box on recruitment strategies for the 21st Century clubs/classes they are currently in. We want to see as many students as possible take advantage of 21st Century offerings.
