Cloverbud Rule Update
The Minnesota 4-H Youth Development Cloverbud policy creates a uniform set of rules for participation to maintain developmental appropriateness and safety for our youngest 4-H members. A rule related to Cloverbuds and animals has been updated.
When Cloverbuds and animals are together at a 4-H program, families may now choose one of two acceptable ways to guide and monitor involvement in non-mounted activities:
The responsible person is in control of the animal with the Cloverbud at their side.
The Cloverbud is in control of the animal with the responsible person at their side to assist or take control of the animal when needed or as directed by staff, volunteers, or show managers.
In the horse project, the second option does not apply to mounted activities. When a Cloverbud is mounted on a horse, the horse must always have a lead line and be under the control of the responsible person.
Cloverbud families may choose either option. Either way, Cloverbud exhibitions will continue to be non-competitive. Complete Cloverbud rules can be found in the Cloverbud information sheet.
Shooting Sports Training Nearby
A training will take place on Saturday, April 20th in Wadena, MN. We will be offering the following disciplines at this training: Archery, Wildlife & Rifle/Pistol. This will be the only training in the NW this spring. Registration is open and can be found here. Deadline to register is April 7, 2024.
Becker County 4-H is in need of a Wildlife Instructor. If you are interested let Elliott know and sign up for this training. All shooting sports disciplines (including archery) need wildlife education. Wildlife education has to be taught by a certified wildlife instructor.
4-H Club Fundraising Opportunity
This fundraiser is simple and easy, and clubs will have the opportunity to raise as much as $1000 selling Bonnie’s note cards! We need to make room for new merchandise coming in 2024. Our typical note card fundraising offer allows clubs to make a $4 profit on each pack sold…. However, WITH THIS OFFER, CLUBS WILL MAKE $10 PER PACK!!!
Members of clubs can purchase these cards for themselves, as well as sell them to neighbors, friends, relatives, the veterinarian, the milk man, the dentist, the local banker and teachers too! Everyone is a potential customer!
