Reminder!
School Start Time---9:00 am
As educators, we understand the many demands and challenges of managing a busy household and getting your child ready for school each morning. However, I want to take a moment to emphasize the critical importance of punctuality, particularly for our youngest learners.
Arriving on time for school sets the tone for a successful day of learning and growth. Here are several reasons why punctuality is essential for young children:
1. Establishing Routine: Consistent attendance and punctuality help children establish healthy routines. When children arrive on time each day, they become accustomed to the structure of the school day, which promotes a sense of security and stability.
2. Maximizing Learning Opportunities: Every minute of instructional time is valuable. When children arrive late, they miss out on essential instruction, class discussions, and collaborative activities. Punctuality ensures that your child has ample time to engage with the curriculum and make the most of their learning experiences.
3. Building Responsibility and Time Management Skills: Punctuality teaches children the importance of responsibility and time management. By arriving on time, children learn to prioritize their commitments and understand the consequences of being late. These skills are fundamental for success both in school and later in life.
4. Fostering Positive Relationships: Being on time demonstrates respect for others' time and commitments. It also fosters positive relationships with teachers and classmates. Punctual students contribute to a positive classroom environment and help create a sense of community and teamwork.
5. Reducing Stress and Anxiety: Late arrivals can disrupt the flow of the school day and cause unnecessary stress for children. By arriving on time, children feel more relaxed and prepared to engage in learning activities, leading to a more positive and productive educational experience.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise from time to time, but we encourage you to prioritize punctuality whenever possible. If your child arrives to school after 9 am, you will be asked to report to the Main Office to sign him/her in. As a reminder, we do offer before school care through our Surround Care Program. Information can be found below and on the District's webpage.
School is Where You Belong!
We have seen a significant increase in student absences this year. Being chronically absent (10% of school year) can have a significant impact on a student's academic progress and their ability to access the variety of academic and non-academic supports that schools provide. Please reach out to the school if you would like support in getting your students to school!
Message from Nurse Mando
Spring is in the air finally! Let’s enjoy some time outdoors with our kids again. Also if you are doing any spring cleaning and want to donate gently used clothing (sizes 3-7), we can definitely use them here at SSS!
We will be having hearing and vision screenings this month for all kindergartners and vision screenings for all pre-k students. You will only be notified if referrals are recommended.
Save the Date!
The SECOND ANNUAL PLEDGE WALK FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER will take place on Saturday, May 4th from 4-7pm. Hosted by the MSHS student-run Committee for Childhood Cancer Awareness, this event raised over $18,000 last year for the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and their goal this year is to top $25,000! It will be a fun day with food trucks, music, games, a chance to dunk Mrs. Page and to just be with the community to help an important cause. Please contact the MSHS with any questions. We hope to see you there!
Please fill out this form to register for the walk: https://forms.gle/h16onUbUbuqyNKnF8
