Optional CogAT Testing
An optional administration of the CogAT for gifted service will be offered on Tuesday, December 6th at Greene.
Who should take this test?
- Current 5th grade students who are NOT in Accelerated Math or Advanced Language, but have 2 scores of 95th percentile or higher on their Math or Reading MAP within the last 12 months. These 5th grade students should register for the test and will need to score a 128 on the CogAT for placement into 6th grade Accelerated Math and/or Advanced Language.
- Current 5th or 6th grade Accelerated Math students who are interested in taking Double Accelerated Math and have 2 scores of 98th percentile or higher on their Math MAP within the last 12 months. These students should register for the test and will need to score a 144 on the CogAT for placement into 6th or 7th grade Double Accelerated Math.
Unless testing for Double Accelerated Math, current accelerated students do NOT need a CogAT score to re-qualify for Advanced Language or Accelerated Math. Nor is the CogAT needed for any junior high placements (with the exception of Double Accelerated Math).
If your child meets the criteria and you would like to have him/her tested, please click on the link below to register for CogAT Testing by November 30th.
Student Led Conferences
City BBQ Fundraiser November 3rd, 2016
The Joseph-Beth Book Fair is Coming Soon!
We’re excited about our upcoming Book Fair. There will be hundreds of books available for the students to purchase. Prices will range from $2.50 to about $25.00, with the average price of a book being $6.00 or $7.00.
There will be something for all ages, so plan to get a head start on your holiday shopping. The Greene Book Fair will also have some of the more popular and newer books written by this year’s visiting author, Margaret Peterson Haddix.
The first day of the Fair is Thursday, October 27 and the final day is Friday, November 4. It will be open each weekday from 7:45 am -3:00 pm, and will also be open during ALL conferences times.
Your child’s class will visit the Book Fair during their regularly scheduled Home Base time. Students are also encouraged to visit the book fair during the week by getting a pass from their teacher.
Conference time is an excellent time to come with your child to shop at our Book Fair. We will remain open during the evening conferences on Thursday, October 27 and Thursday, November 3 until 8 PM. We will also be open on Conference Day, Friday, October 28. So . . . be sure to stop by the Media Center. We’ll be looking for you!
Additionally, we will be collecting loose change (or dollar bills) to help buy new books for the Operation Give Back library in Blue Ash. You can go to www.ogiveback.com to learn more about that organization. There will be a jar at the Fair in which to donate your loose change (or dollar bills). Our goal is to donate $100 worth of new books to OGB.
