Aristotle
"Plato is dear to me, but dearer still is truth"
His Philosophy Behind This Quote
Aristotle explains to us through this quote that even if we trust somebody the truth is still the better resource to turn to. Plato is Aristotle's teacher so obviously he has to put his trust in Plato. He also realizes that even though he trusts Plato it might be better to turn to truth. No one can teach another everything which is why he made this quote. Someone can teach you all they know, but there is always more that can be found out.
How this relates to Ancient Greece
We know that this quote is big in Greece because it even pops up in the Odyssey. In the Odyssey Agamemnon explains to Odysseus how his wife murdered he and his daughter. He explains that you can trust someone all you want, but eventually the truth will come out. It also relates to Ancient Greek all the way back to the Trojan War and how the war was won. The Greeks trusted the Trojans giving them a gift, but the truth came out.
