Mrs. Trout's Weekly News
November 9th -13th
This week we:
- Wrote a short composition in writing workshop about ways we work as a team in school. In our writing we needed to include at least one proper noun. A proper noun is a noun that names something and is written starting with an uppercase letter. An example would be my name: Beth. ( a name of a person) or Target. ( a name of a place).
- We started our unit in Social Studies on learning about the first Thanksgiving and what life was like for the Pilgrims and Native Americans.
- We focused on the long vowel a with the final silent e. We learned when a word and with an e it makes the vowel say it's name. We call it magic e. We learned when a c is next the e it makes the s sound like in the word face. When a g is next to the e it makes the j sound like age.
- We are continuing to work on strategies in math (doubles, near doubles, make a 10).
We celebrated Veterans Day and want to thank the Veterans for their service.
Check out Isabel's Veterans Day activity! We love our Veterans!
We made ourselves in Pilgrims and typed facts about what our life would have been like back then.
