- The Union general was George G. Meade, the Confederate general was Robert E. Lee.
- Gettysburg was the largest battle in the Civil War.
- Pickett's Charge took place on the last day of the battle, the South made a mistake and they never recovered. The battle was a Union victory.
- The significance of the battle is the South never tried to invade the North again, and eventually surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865.
When the battle was over, President Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address, which is one of the most famous speeches given in history.
