Attn: 7th grade parents - Vaccines Reminder
The first day of school is almost here! Please remember your student will need the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines before starting 7th grade. These are often given during 11 and 12 year old well visits. Turning your student's immunization records into the nurse now gets this off your list of "to dos" for summer and makes for an easier registration process! You can view and print your child's vaccine records on file with GCISD by logging in to your Skyward Family Access account. Pick your student's name and then click "Health Info" on the bottom of the left column. Then click "display options" at the top. A box will pop up and click "Show Vaccinations". You can take this record to CVS, Walgreens, CareNow, or any facility or pharmacy who offers vaccinations should you not have a primary care doctor.

CMS Honors Band Places 2nd in the State of Texas!
On June 4, the Colleyville Middle School Honors Band competed in the first level of the Honor Band competition - Region. We are in Region 31, which is composed of schools in Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Southlake, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Birdville, Coppell, and Grapevine-Colleyville. The Colleyville Middle School band placed 1st, advancing on to the Area level.
On June 22, we competed in the Area competition. We are in Area B which includes schools from Frisco, Mansfield, Fort Worth, Keller, and more. The Colleyville Middle School Honors Band placed 1st again advancing to the State Level. This meant we were automatically in the top 15 bands in the state of Texas!
On Thursday, July 21, the Colleyville Middle School Honors Band competed in the final level of the Honor Band competition - State. Only 15 bands were selected to make it this far. Each band was assigned a number at random to keep it anonymous for the five judges who were listening. We then sit in a room with all the judges and listen to recordings of all 15 bands. We are excited to let you know that the CMS Honors Band has finished 2nd overall! We are the first runner-up and the 2nd best band in the state of Texas!!
This is a huge accomplishment for our band, school, and community! We are so incredibly proud of these students and cannot wait to see what the future holds. I know I speak for Mr. Prescott and myself when I say there is no place we’d rather be - we are lucky enough to teach the best students and have the best family, school, and community support imaginable.
Thank you,
Lauren Jones

Bring Your Own Device FAQs
As a reminder, beginning in August 2022, personal PC or MacBook laptops will no longer be able to connect to the internet while on a GCISD campus. This means that students will need to use a district-issued device while on campus.
The District has compiled a list of frequently asked questions regarding this change. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please direct them to technology@gcisd.net.
Free and Reduced-Price School Meals
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Transitions Back to Application Requirement for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress authorized spending that allowed schools to serve free meals for all students. Those funds are not authorized to continue for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD must return to charging for school meals and offering free and reduced-price meals based on student eligibility. Starting on July 18, 2022, applications will be available to fill out for the 2022-2023 school year. Families are encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals available online at www.schoollunchapp.com. A paper copy may be downloaded from the website or requested at any campus or Nutrition Services office.
The application will determine a child’s eligibility for free and reduced-price meals and may assist in the determination of eligibility for other state or federal benefits. Only one application needs to be completed per household. Schools will notify the household of the child’s eligibility. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers school nutrition programs in Texas and offers an eligibility calculator at www.SquareMeals.org/ProgramEligibility.
Decisions regarding payment for school meals are made at the national-government level, not by the school nutrition team or TDA. The dedicated staff in Nutrition Services is looking forward to serving healthy, balanced meals to students in the new school year. If you have any questions, please call 817-251-5617 or email child.nutrition@gcisd.net
