Principal's Message
I am happy to report that the school year is rockin' and rollin'! Visiting classrooms these past few weeks has made me so happy and proud. Our students are actively engaged in learning and are forming lasting connections with their peers. Teachers and staff are patiently teaching routines and procedures. I have been focused on meeting and learning all of our new student names, connecting with my past kiddos, and making sure everyone is feeling safe and at home in our school. Most importantly, we are all having lots of fun through it all!
You will see that our next Family Engagement event is coming up next week on Wednesday and we cannot wait to share a meal, connect, and intentionally target a major area of academic focus with our families. Teachers have been busily planning and preparing ways in which to empower our families to partake in the upward momentum of our academic progression. We hope everyone can make it. We promise it will be great!
I also wanted to give everyone a heads-up about arrival time. Our school day officially begins at 7:50 when I deliver our daily announcements and teachers take attendance and begin their community-building activities. On Monday we will start closing our front arrival gate at 7:50 so that we can get started with our school biz. If you drop your child off after 7:50, they will need to go through the office to check in and get a tardy slip.
Finally, I want to put a plug in about wellness...for everyone. Some of you may know that I have a daughter who has entered kindergarten this year. And one lesson that I am reminded of as a new parent in this school this year is the vital importance of home routines and structure. I have always understood the value of an early bedtime, healthy food, and structured/predictable routines but implementing such things as a working parent is, simply put, challenging on all levels. I guess I am putting this out there to all of us parents as an encouraging push to remember that we can be our best selves and thrive when we are in predictable, safe, healthy environments This applies to both students and to us, the caregivers of our sweet children. I hope everyone can find their own state of wellness and predictability as we settle into the rhythm of the school year. We all deserve peace of mind, after all!
As always, if anything (anything!!) comes up that we can help with, please reach out. We are on this journey together!
With all my love,
Heather Lowe Rogers

Fall Family Night: Soaring to Success-Sept. 28th
Please join us for our 2nd Family Engagement event of the year on Wednesday, September 28th. We invite you and your student(s) to enjoy a BBQ meal prepared by our friends from Fire District 5 from 5-6pm. After dinner, students will engage in some fun activities to inspire and connect. While our students are working with our support staff, parents are asked to visit classrooms. Teachers will share learning targets and strategies to help support students' upward academic progression. In addition, we will share classroom-specific data so families can set targeted goals for their student.
