This newsletter provides information on activities and concerns of sixth grade students and teachers. For more detailed information on individual subject areas, please refer to the teacher's School Fusion page, linked beneath their picture below. Mr. Anderson - Language Arts
I don't plan on working too much over break, so I will expect very little of the children. Over Spring Break, there will be no reading log and no IXL assignment. Students will be assigned new vocabulary and IXL materials on Tuesday, when they return. They will also be given a new reading log. On Wednesday after break, we will continue our writing program by reviewing the short stories the children wrote last week. They will be assigned a new narrative writing assignment, and have Thursday and Friday to work on that essay as well, due date TBD. I have reminded students of their Accelerated Reader responsibilities for this term. Everyone should be aware of their progress and goals.
Ms. Bosse - Math
We crunched in our Patterns unit before break. We will begin the Measurement Unit when we return. This unit includes area and perimeter as well as surface area and volume of rectangular prisms. Our Math SOL is May 17th.
Mr. Cardone - Social Studies
On Weds. 3/30 we will have a test on the key people and events of the Revolutionary War. Students will also conclude their historical analysis on the Battle of Lexington and take a look at the advantages and disadvantages both sides had in the war.
Mr. Cardone - Science
When we return from break, we will start wrapping up our unit on Earth's waters by exploring the human impact on water. On Thursday we will have a quiz on how large bodies of water regulate temperature. Remember, Tuesday 3/29 we will be having our watershed field experience. Check my school fusion for some information about tick/insect prevention. While we don't expect there to be too many this time of year you can never be too safe.
Introduction to World Languages – 6th grade – 18 weeks
We have finished with introduction to Latin. This week we are starting with introduction to French. We will continue learning French one more week after Spring break. Enjoy your break!

Travel & Absences
We understand that families may need to travel outside of scheduled school holidays, but Prince William County's policy is that work will be provided to students upon their return. The sixth grade teachers recommend that you email us when an extended absence will be taking place, as the office form takes some time to process. If feasible teachers will reply with how your child can stay on-track with the class.
