Dragon Blast
April 5, 2024
I hope you had a wonderful break filled with relaxation and quality time with loved ones. I want to follow up on Dr. Christopher’s email regarding the partial Solar Eclipse happening in our area on Monday, April 8.
The eclipse is expected to take place from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. As the weather forecast suggests mostly sunny conditions, it's crucial to remember that staring directly at the sun during an eclipse can lead to eye damage. Here are the key details regarding our plans for Monday, April 8:
- Our school will remain open, with regular dismissal times.
- Safety resources, including eclipse glasses, will be provided for safe viewing. We will be distributing these glasses to our teachers by the end of the week.
- Excused absences will be granted for students leaving early due to family safety concerns.
While we certainly encourage you and your children to take advantage of the provided eye protection for students and participate in eclipse-related activities, we know that this may not be preferred for some of our families. If you would rather pick up your student prior to regular dismissal time, please let us know.
Here at MCH, we will be heading outside at approximately 2:55 with our eclipse glasses in hand. All students and staff will return to the building no later than 3:10. If you plan on picking your child up prior to the viewing of the eclipse, please sign them out before 2:45.
Again, we ask that you please take a moment to remind your children about the importance of eye safety during dismissal and any eclipse-related activities they may engage in.
Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning experience for everyone!
Take care,
Principal Pavlo

Is your child in 4th or 5th grade? We are excited to share that our annual 4th and 5th District-Wide Track Meet will be held this May. Our students will enjoy a day at the WCU track in a friendly competition against other WCASD elementary schools. WE WILL NEED YOUR HELP!!! The success of the track meet rests heavily on the parent volunteers. YOU WILL NEED YOUR CLEARANCES. You can visit this link on the district website for information about obtaining your clearances. We suggest you put in for your clearances now as they do sometimes take a bit of time to receive them back.
Save the Date to attend as a parent volunteer. More information will come with specific times.
