Words of Inspiration
Correa's Corner
Happy Spring Break!! Please take time this week to spend with family and friends because everyone needs this before starting our busy 4th nine weeks. We all need to re-energize, refresh and regroup so we can have a successful last 2 months of school.
Report grades will be ready on Mar. 22, so make sure to look at your child's grades, attendance and behavior. Remember, the rest of the school year is going to go by fast and we need everyone to be ready to focus, work and dedicate time to learning and getting ready for STAAR. Students also need to be prepared for the new school year, and in order to do that they need to make sure they are engaged in class and at school every day.
We need all our students to know the importance of coming to school EVERY DAY, and getting to ALL classes on time. It's hard to catch up when students miss one day of school, or even one period during the day. And, we are at that time of year where STAAR is around the corner and we are making plans or the new school year. I'd hate for your children to lose elective classes, or worse yet, be retained because they didn't focus in school.
Please continue to check our calendar on our Neff website, so you can keep up-to-date on things happening on our campus.
REMINDERS:
1.Check your child's immunizations and update them if needed. Students who do not have up-to-date immunizations could be overnight suspended.
2. Please talk to your children about the dangers of vaping and the severe consequences they can now face due to a change in state law and state education code (eff. 9/1/23). Any student found in possession of, using, or distributing vapes or e-cigarettes on or within 300 feet of a school campus will be removed from class and placed in (DAEP).
3. Ensure your children are getting enough rest and going to bed early so they are energized and ready to learn.
Take Care,
Mrs. Correa

LET'S DO BETTER AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY, ALL DAY!!
6th grade: 91.2% - Went down and now need to meet goal of 93% 🙁
7th grade: 90.3% - Still needs to meet goal of 93% 🙁
8th grade: 89.6% - Still needs to meet goal of 93% 🙁
Campus rate: 90.34% - Still needs to meet goal of 93% 🙁
Our campus goal is 93%, so let's work together to make sure your children are at school every day. Don't let them fall into attendance trouble so early in the year. Make sure they are also staying healthy and safe.
WAYS TO EXTEND THE LEARNING AT HOME
1. Please work with your children on basic math facts like adding, subtracting, mulitplying and dividing. These basic skills will help them in their secondary math classes, especially as they move from grade to grade. You can have students use flash cards, or log into math websites. Daily practice of these skills will give them the confidence they need to do well in class.
2. Students can work on math problems by going into their Northside Portal and working on Dreambox. It's a great way to practice their math skills, and earn points for their class.
3. Practice critical writing at home by asking your children to write a response to a question. They can then explain what they wrote to you out loud.
4. Practice asking open ended questions, so students are ready to answer questions in class that extend beyond a one-word response.
