Message from the Principal
Dear Parents,
Thank you to those of you who attended our School- Wide Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, September 10. It was wonderful session and we enjoyed listening to you and answering your questions regarding our 1st day of In Person Learning at school. We thank each of you and are appreciative of the ongoing support you have given us. We have had challenges but together with our teachers, staff and your support we have accomplished amazing things.
As we begin to transition back to school on September 14, we want to make sure we are keeping you updated and informed regarding back to school transition procedures. The following procedures will be in place at our school beginning TODAY for students whose parents have selected our Safety First In-Person Learning Option:
- All staff and students will be screened before entering the school and must wear a mask.
- No more than 4 parents will be allowed into the front office area at a time. Once parents call the school, appointments will be set up and parents contacted with the date and time of their appointment.
- Upon entering the school all visitors will be screened for safety purposes and must be wearing a mask.
- Students must have a tag with their name, teacher name and parent contact information on the first 2 weeks of school. We ask that you pin this on their shirts or outside their backpacks for easy access. This is VERY important.
- Every student must wear a mask every day!
- No one is allowed to exit their vehicles when dropping off students. School personnel will be assigned to all drop off locations and will assist with bringing students into the school where teachers and additional staff members will escort them to their designated classroom. We need our students to have their name tags with them.
- If you child will be a car rider we ask that you place your car rider sign in the front windshield inside your car where it will be visible for staff to see. This will expedite the dismissal process.
- The first week of school we do expect our dismissal to take longer than usual due to our present situation and we thank you ahead of time for your patience. We will begin dismissal each day by 3:40.
BUS TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
If you child will be a bus rider all buses will pick up and drop off students at each bus pick up locations the first week of school. Beginning September 21, all students will be picked up at all bus stops but students will need to be approved to ride the bus home at the end of the day. Many students have already been approved for bus transportation required beginning September 21. Please contact your child’s teacher and they can give you information regarding an update on the status of your child being approved for bus transportation beginning the second week of school.
All Parents of Pre-K and Kindergarten students will have to provide a student PIN number for students that are riding the bus. Without this PIN number, your child will not be released to anyone. If you do not know your child’s pin number it is the last 5 digits of his School ID number. Your child’s teacher can assist you if you are needing this information.
CHANGING LEARNING OPTION
Many of you have called the school to inquire about changing the learning option for your child (Ex: When you first completed the survey this summer you selected Virtual Learning and Now you want to change to In Person Learning). Yes, you may do so by going to the district website or our school website and completing the survey again. Once you have done this, we will receive this information the following day and will prepare to make the change for your child. We will contact you regarding when the change will begin. Please note that if you are wanting to change from Virtual Learning to In Person Learning there is a time frame of 14 days for the school to prepare for this change. We will try our best to make the change before the 14 days but we want to inform you ahead of time that we do have that 14 day time frame to accommodate your request. Once the change is made you will be contacted and given information regarding the start day for your child to return to school for In Person Learning.
Every time you wish to make a change to your child’s learning option you will have to complete the Learning Option Survey and wait for the school to contact you before the change is officially made.
SCHOOL HOURS
Our school hours are 8:35 to 3:40 each day.
We thank you for your support and look forward to a SUPER FANTASTIC FIRST WEEK OF SCHOOL!
Respectfully,
Cynthia Gomez

Riding the bus? Find Your Stop and Learn about Key Safety Information
As we prepare to bring back our Safety-First In-Person students in phases, we’ve updated our bus routes so parents can figure out their child’s stop.
Just visit our website and type in your address, school and/or grade to get the details. Spring ISD Transportation recommends all students arrive at their designated stop at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time of the bus. It’s important that students maintain social distancing as they wait for their bus and then follow all driver directions once they board.
Students will be asked to wear their masks while riding the bus and to use hand sanitizer upon entering the vehicle. To maintain physical distancing, we will transport only one student per seat while we are operating in condition “Orange.”
Please check out our videos on all of our health and safety protocols here: www.springisd.org/reopen
Spending Time Outside is a Great Option for Families
Many activities and places are opening to the public with rules to wear masks and practice social distancing. Some families may be comfortable going to the mall or exploring the local playground at the park but others may still be cautious of such outings. Here are some ideas to get your young child outside while practicing good safety:
Take a nice walk or bike ride around your neighborhood.
Grab a blanket, find a spot under a tree and have storytime.
Get artistic and make nature sculptures using twigs, leaves, cones with a play dough base.
Choose a book and have a scavenger hunt looking for items from the story.
Play catch with a ball but avoid sharing equipment with others outside your household.
As always, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer during and after being outdoors. According to healthychildren.org, getting outdoors, being in nature, and moving our bodies is good for everyone.
