Louisiana native, Rory Devereaux, is excited to begin her studies at the esteemed private boarding school, Wexford, in London while her parents begin new jobs several hours away in Bristol. She is adjusting very well to this new life in London as she meets new friends; among them Jazza, her roommate and Jerome, her quasi-boyfriend. Then, a string of murders begin occurring that are reminiscent of the Jack the Ripper murders in 1888. After Rory has a near death experience at school, she begins to see "shades" or ghosts roaming around London. This ability brings her to the attention of a squad of young people who have the same ability as Rory and they, along with Rory, must find a way to help catch this illusive killer before he kills again.
