A Fundraising Event for Valeda House
The Servant Leadership Squad (SLS) Wellness Team of 11 Grade 4 students will be offering a fundraising opportunity for Valeda House. Valeda House, run through Catholic Social Services, is a service that is supported by all of EICS.
OLA's SLS Wellness Team will be serving up a plate of nachos and cheese and while students eat their nachos, a positive and empowering note will be revealed on the plate! Plates will be the size of dessert plates, and children will purchase them for $2/plate. They can purchase as many plates of nachos as they like!
To give us an idea of how many plates of nachos to make,
please click the button below and
complete a 2 question survey....
The date for the Notes and Nachos Fundraising Event will be announced soon.
The Wellness Team needs some time to write the messages and grate the cheese!
Share Your Passion!
We are calling on parents to offer a session to children sharing their passions in the form of Power Options. Want to teach children how to crochet as a way to be peaceful? Want to share your knowledge for engineering and how to construct safe structures? Love chemistry and mixing different liquids together? Do you love spreading joy, and want to make a small craft to deliver to the neighbourhood around OLA? These are just a few ideas of how you can share your passions, knowledge and talents to OLA children!
We are inviting parents to offer a One-Hour Power Option workshop from 1:00pm - 2:00pm on Wednesday April 8 and a repeat session on May 6 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm.
If you are interested in offering a workshop, please contact Mme Gravelle at pamgr@eics.ab.ca before March 23 . Even if you have a passion that you'd love to share, and just don't know how, please contact Mme Gravelle to discuss the possibilities!

Pre-Kindergarten & OLA
With the announcement of the Provincial Education Budget for the 2020-2021 school year, our Inclusive Faith Based Pre-Kindergarten program at OLA will not be sustainable, and therefore unable to continue in the 2020-2021 school year.
We are delighted to share that we are beginning a beautiful partnership with a local independent organization who will offer a Play Based, Faith Centered PreSchool at OLA. We are collaboratively working through the specific details to serve current and future OLA families. Once we have more information, we will happily update our OLA families.
Our OLA Student Support Team is working closely with EICS Inclusive Learning services to navigate the new Early Learning Funding Framework and Program Unit Funding (PUF) model that were recently released. We will be communicating with our current families as soon as we have more information regarding supports for next year.
Please join us in celebrating with gratitude Mrs. Weller, Mrs. Fricke and Mrs. Vriens for their collaborative dedication to our OLA littles, to exceptional learning and growing, founded in Christ and rooted in play. Our OLA PreKinders have demonstrated exceptional growth so far. We look forward to their continued learning with us to June 2020!
It is a blessing and a joy having the Early Learning Team taking such great care of these little learners! We are incredibly grateful for all they have done for OLA children.
