TEAMS Competition
Chandler High took three teams of students to the TEAMS competition at ASU Polytechnic Campus. Students completed two sections of testing. The first section involved 80 multiple choice questions ranging in topic from calculus to sustainability to physics and engineering. Next, teams wrote five essays about science, math, or engineering topics. There were seven total teams in our division and CHS took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! Congratulations, Wolves, and thanks to Miss Katie Rennell, CHS Math Teacher!
Chandler DECA
On February 29th and March 1st, Chandler DECA, sponsored by Ms. Kim Frahm, took 24 students to the 2016 State DECA Competition. CHS earned 36 medals and 15 qualifiers for international competition! In addition, Juan Cardenas was elected as a member of the 2016-2017 Arizona DECA State Officer Team. Way to represent the School of Champions, Chandler DECA!
Jazz Band
Jazz Band performed at NAU Jazz Festival and scored a Superior rating, the first one for CHS!
Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band earned a Superior with Distinction rating at the Area Concert Festival. They will be advancing to the next round in April.
CHS Winterguard
Congratulations to CHS Winter Guard for earning 3rd Place at the Casa Grande Show!
Wolf Howl
The Wolf Howl Arts Issue is out! Congratulations to the Wolf Howl Staff and their teacher, Ms. Brandi Rasmussen, for creating a terrific publication focused on CHS Arts.

The Treblemakers did an excellent job representing CHS in Chandler’s Ostrich Festival Parade over spring break.

The CHS Wolves Soccer Team read to Hartford Elementary students on March 2nd to celebrate Read Across America.

Two former CHS wrestlers had outstanding college performances in February. Dalton Brady, a 4-time State Champion at CHS, won the PAC 12 Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Championships. Dajour Reece, State Champion at CHS, won the NJCAA National Tournament. Congratulations, Dalton and Dajour!

ORCHESTRA CONCERT
CHS’s Symphonic and Chamber Orchestras performed an excellent concert before spring break. Symphonic Orchestra performed numbers including “Along the River” and “Dreamchasers.” The Chamber Orchestra’s numbers included “Aigincourt” and “Holberg,” which included a violin solo by Jonathan Chiou and a viola solo by Mason Haskett. Both orchestras are conducted by Ms. Danelle Kennedy.
“MIRACLE MINUTE” RAISES $1200
CHS celebrated Disabilities Awareness Week by participating in lunch-time activities and Spirit Days. Students and staff participated in a “Miracle Minute” fundraiser and raised $1200 for Special Olympics Arizona in 60 seconds!

WORLD LANGUAGE UPDATE
Spanish 1 students wrote, illustrated, and read their stories to children in the Pre-School Express.
The ASU Foreign Language Fair results are in, and CHS French students, taught by Dr. Angelika Foerst and Mme. Peggy Bejarano, swept the competition! Accolades include: Intermediate Student-Created Skit- 1st Place; Intermediate/Advanced Impromptu- 3rd Place; Advanced Student-Created Skit- 3rd Place; Novice Prepared Recitation by Tanaya Rowell (pictured below)- 1st Place; Novice Prepared Recitiation by Ryan Stiffarm- 2nd Place; and Novice Prepared Recitation by Christopher Ruiz- 3rd Place.

It is time to formally recognize Chandler High’s great teachers by nominating them for the 2016 CHS Teacher of the Year (TOY) Award! View the following form to see criteria and complete your nomination: CHS Teacher of the Year nomination form. Nominations will be accepted through March 24th. The CHS TOY will be announced in April and will be in the running for AEF’s Arizona Teacher of the Year.
If you would like to recognize a staff member who does not meet all of the criteria, please do so. Although he/she will not be in the running for Arizona Teacher of the Year, CHS wants to acknowledge him/her. Thanks for helping us recognize Chandler High’s terrific teachers!

ACT Testing

All testing begins at 7:25am. We are running two bus routes each day of testing, the regular route for testers, and a second route for non-testers. Students not testing AzMERIT or AIMS Science will catch their bus 3 hours later than regularly scheduled pick-up. On April 19th, freshmen, sophomores and seniors will catch their bus 4 ½ hours later than regularly scheduled pick-up.

Chamberlain Orthodontics wants to give one CHS student a free set of braces! Chamberlain is sponsoring an essay contest for students who would like to illustrate the need (financial and physical) for FREE, professional orthodontic services. It's not too late! Help support extra-curricular activities and extended learning beyond the regular school day by making a tax credit donation to Chandler High School. The state of Arizona allows taxpayers to receive a tax credit of up to $200 ($400 if married and filing jointly) when you make a tax credit donation to our school. Yes, taxpayers receive a dollar-for-dollar credit towards their state tax return. Tutoring, student clubs and field trips are just a few of the enrichment programs that are supported through tax credit donations. CHS WOLF DAYS- SAVE THE DATE
The purpose of WOLF Days is to distribute 2016-17 schedules, take student I.D. pictures, and pay for any fees. Please keep these dates in mind when scheduling vacations. WOLF Days takes place in the CHS Media Center.
