Kinder Extended Planning
Principal's Message
Dear Wildcats,
What a way to start the school year! It definitely was smooth sailing and ensuring all children were taken care of around campus!
A few points for planning purposes: this week, you continue your routines and procedures and embed rigorous instruction from the start. Students should be deeply immersed in learning content while learning the routines and procedures. We have our mantra, "Learning by Doing," which comes from our PLC book. Our students should be doing the same. Maximize every minute of your instruction and students are actively engaged even when waiting for transitions within your classroom.
This week the main look fors are clear instructional objectives on the board and active participation from all students for following project class norms. If we want to improve student achievement and be distinct- we have to set the stage immediately and have mastery expectations from our students from the get go.
Also, some of you are teaching a content for the first time, schedule your instructional support team to come watch you to give feedback or model a lesson. You can also co-teach a lesson together. If you know you want to establish stronger routines and procedures for project class norms- your dean, counselor, and RtI coordinator can also assist.
Ask for help no matter how long you have been playing the game! Remember- you are my all-star team. Every good team has great coaches that help each player make the next move to win the game. The coaching and learning never stops- it's part of a winning team.
Finally, I'm finalizing night events and big day events that will take a collective effort from the school for participation. So you know in advance, we will have 5 night events this year for which all staff are required to attend or participate in one way or another. These are great ways to bridge relationships with our families and students. Please see night events and dates.
